Go Celtics!

ALL NIGHT LOCAL SHOW ON WEEI ( I HOPE ) !!!!!!!!! NO. 17 !!!!!!!

Kevin Garnett (to Bill Russell): "I hope we did you proud."

Bill Russell: "you did."

The best part about watching it...was seeing the respect paid to tradition, and the franchise. It was great to see Boston represented with class.

What a lot of you don't know (and I'm sure don't care) is a good part of the country hates Boston simply because of the arrogance of the fans. Tonight...in the "Garden", it was classy. The fans were respectfully jubilant. They chanted smack in a good-natured way. There wasn't the obnoxiousness that Patriots fans showed the networks during their Superbowl runs. And make no mistake, other cities devote a lot of newspaper space to hating Boston fans. Look at yesterday's Philadelphia papers for a great example.

...and once again...WEEI will benefit.

Best sports city in America. And nothing any station competing against 'EEI can do to counter-program championships. Those are better than ANY and EVERY hit record, or bit you can present.

LOCAL....and IMPORTANT to the audience.

Doesn't seem fair. But expect 'EEI to enjoy the Spring book.

So good to see Havlicek & Russell in the building...

While I did listen to the game & postgame/celeb. on 'EEI, I then heard a bit of JT The
Brick on my special magic radio (XM) to hear some views from Celtic & Laker fans, etc

Some may complain about WEEI's limited signal but imagine if this had been on...1510 the Zone...

Now I know What " Quack, Quack, " mean ( WEEI Cedric Maxwell ), The Boston Celtics Duck Boat Championship Parade, is this Thursday (6-19-08) at 11 AM, Downdown Boston.

maybe if a good part of the country supported their sports teams as passionately as boston fans do, they'd be hating less.
one great things about being a rabid boston fan and be so pre-occuppied with local teams it's that there's no time to worry about what's going in other cities...except maybe for the ny yankees.

the celtics won 18 games last year and banged out the garden for most of them. bruins fans still buy season tickets to watch basically a glorified ahl team. patriots used to sell during the bad years when the sullivans tried to send their franchise down the toilet. that's boston. that's passion for sports.

Did any of you listen to the all night Celtics Talk on WEEI??? If so, what did you think? Did you like it or not? Why or why not? What can they do to make your heart more happy?

Personnally I liked it and enjoyed it. The way John Ryder talk, it make you want to listen more and more. It feel like he's talking right to you as a friend. When he pick up the phone, he even says "Jeff from Malden, thank you for calling WEEI......." and they start to talk.
That's a good look
Go Ryder!!!!!!!

Your thoughts????

Thank you

I wish that they could have synched the radio with the TV. Van Gundy was OK, but Breen and Jackson were terrible. They were so busy telling stories and trying to be funny that they ignored things like substitutions, referee's calls, number of team fouls, etc. Grandy and Max would've been much better. I thought it was possible to synch them, but I guess not. I can't imagine why 'EEI wouldn't do it if it was possible.

And what would they sync it to? Your digital cable box? HD Cable box? Your neighbor's DSS?? Oh over the air?? And would that be HD or analog?? You watching Ch5 or Ch9 and how much digital signal processing are they running. In this world today where no two TV's in your own house are usually in sync what the hell would they even try and sync it with. Stop living in the past we live in a digital world where nothing is in sync.

Sorry. Geesh.

If you have a DVR (maybe TiVo, too??), you can hit pause or rewind slightly to allow for TV feed to sync with the radio. Then turn down the tv and listen to the radio.

high def tv feeds are always behind radio feed by 10-15 seconds so it wouldn't work

Due to Celtics win last night and Entercom's wish to make money by having THE Big Show talk about it,
Howie's first hour or so on WRKO is pre-empted today by a 1 pm Sox game. Usually weekday and Wed.
games are on WEEI but today, you won't get to hear Howie talk about all the people who got arrested
after the Celts game last night.

Unless you listen online or on stations in Portland, Holyoke, Burl VT, etc. Howie's stations in Worc.
and Cape Cod also have the Sox.

Oh yeah...I was thinking it was the other way!?! Duh for me...I am sleep deprived after this series...time for a Dunkin Donuts coffee.

But I do agree that Breen and Jackson were horrible...up there with Buck and McCarver. Although I always watched the games, this is the first season in a long time that I actually listened a lot on the radio...I've got to say, I like the Sean & Max combo!!

I find it interesting that the national media choose to extoll the virtues of the "amazing" Kobe Bryant. Honestly...He's never been the dominant force that any of the greats of the past were. He's always been surrounded by great talent, and coaching. To hear the national media tell it...the kid walks on water.

Is he a great player? Absolutely. But nowhere near the level he's elevated to on a nightly basis. It was nice to see 3 "superstar" players sacrifice individual accolades for the goals of the team. It was great to see Garnett kiss the leprechaun at center court. The understanding that he's merely overseeing stewardship of a legendary team.

There is a parallel to be made with radio...

Teams are great. Players have a responsiblity to maintain it. You play for the name on the front of the jersey. And when the team wins...the players benefit. It doesn't work the other way.

Just a stupid philosophical connection...

I didn't think I'd be proud to be from Boston today. I haven't followed the Celtics since I was a kid. Perhaps that's it...perhaps we can all feel like kids today.

the only thing kobe proved in these finals is that he can't win without shaq....shaq was the centerpiece in la and miami..to make a radio parallel, if you were to split some of the radio shows like d&c, loren&wally, toucher&rich,o&a etc around here it would be interesting to see who makes it or breaks it on their own at their next gig....
