Stumbled on a traffic announcement loop from CalTrans on AM 530 in Escondio. Talk about your "more stimulating talk radio..."

Thence at 540 I found Gary Owens doing afternoons. It's great to hear him again, even he's creebling on the turntables just a little more slowly these days.

Is he live or vox-tracked?

We used to "cart up" quarter-hour breaks on automated FM's 30 years ago. Is voice-tracking fundamentally different? If so, how?

thanks,

Clericus

530 is on in San Marcos, Vista and Oceanside too!

Gary Owens comes from The MOYL Network and if Im not mistaken, they're voicetracked.

Is voicetracking different? Yes. You can now do anywhere between one day and one week ahead of time.

Here in Mt Helix area, with the aid of a Select-A-Tenna, WNHV296 LAX Airport dominates 530, but I can hear something else underneath it; I just can't make out what it is. Is it more likely to be a TIS, or the big one from Turks and Caicos? If I remember correctly (although I'm in a library which blocks all but local stations right now, and am without the SAT), 530 is more likely to be interfered with at night than in the daytime.

I highly doubt it's Radio Vision Cristiana International you're hearing on 530kHz all the way in your neck of the woods.. but I could be wrong.

LAX has a very high-powered TIS station on 530. I've heard it in Riverside and Ventura counties.
