Go Triad Winners??

Don't get the paper and didn't hear Chris and Chris talking about it. I assume they won again?? Anybody got the skizoop?

Congrats to the big fat Chris and the little nerdy one, too. Or, congrats to turkey neck Jack, whichever one of you won this year!!! Congrats to everyone again!!

;D ;D

I said it here before, I think Whicker actually does a pretty good show compared to the sheet readers on the dial around here. The few times I've listened, it was at least funny.

What is the word on Mr. Roper? Has he lived up to all the hype that never happened? If a tree fell on Roper's show in the woods would anyone hear it??????

Hmmm.. I thought Whacker was gone! Pretty soon huh???

Yea, Ape, I'd say pretty soon on the heels of winning Best Morning show or what ever the award is. Them's some logics!!

Summer book comes out soon. Who's got predictions???????

All I have to say is that Entercom has more employees than any other group and I'm sure they were all encourange to vote. At work, AND at home. No way is that the top show in this market.

Plus, he campaigned (begged) for votes like a little p---y.

And the "Winner is", in your opinion who then? Whadda win anyway? Putt Putt golf passes??

The Winners Get "special" ad rates in the Newspaper Supplement, a Paper Certificate, and the right to hype it up till the cows come home.

No one ever knows the number of votes, or that multiple votes were allowed. It's a good marketing effort by the News & Record, as their Sales Staff are the True Winners.

I agree with Dubbledon. It is a big honor, and like him, I too am jealous that I never got it. It must be a blow to the egos of the two Chises x 2 dos that they didn't get it this year. Don't they use that in a lot of promotion, etc? Speaking of promotion, etc. Has the new morning guy Dan Romper from TDR gotten out on the street yet? I hear he does a thing called the downtown handshake in every market he's in and that it really works and he gets ratings and that he always ends up PD of every station. Maybe he'll get the award next year?????? It's pretty interesting times around here, professah.

;D ;DF  Hahaha  No PD of the year or Jox of the year for him.....Man on the Street..Hahah...Tom Collins has that locked up...MAJIC 94.1...."THE LEADER"    MAJIC 94.1 THE LEADER ROCK'N'ROLL'

I hear Mr Romper already has a nickname at CC......Prima donna.

Already spreading goodwill among his fellow employees and making snide remarks about the station on the air. Complaining about the way the songs were dubbed into the music hard drive and that they are playing the wrong versions of songs. Of course this is the kind of stuff listeners really want to hear about. The guy is a genius.

I've listened a couple of times....never heard him before...what's the deal? I know he is just getting started, but I don't hear anything very compelling and they already have billboards up......might be little soon for that.

He wasn't winning the morning battle in Columbia by the way..

He was also at least their third choice for mornings...two other offers fell thru.

I'm sure Angie Ward loved it when he reffered to her as Ol' Red......ha.

But hey, I could be wrong.

::) Could have been worse..Could have said "Big Red"!

TQR had their "side show" over in Lexington for the BBQ Festival on Saturday!..Strange that I didn't see any other media outlets except for TV..

BBQ fest won't let anyone else in there, that's why. If you had a station called WBBQ and the morning jock was a pig and you offered to roast it live on the air, they'd send you away..."We done always had TQR here..." Brilliant. Wake up, folk. Maybe a Lexington station should be in there?????? Or a station that rocks?????? Fa realzz.

That's been an issue with a lot of events in the market - stations negotiate for "Exclusive" sponsorship.

I think it's short sighted on the sponsor's reasoning as locking up 5 to 8% of the audience while ignoring 90+% of the market audience will eventually lead to the loss of attendees.

AMEN! Even some of the area parades let one station in exclusively. That makes NO sense! I talked with some folks who had a booth in Lexington at the BBQ Festival and they said the attendance was down and nobody was buying anything. Of course it could just be the economy, but only promoting with one radio station can't help! I seriously doubt that WTQR would give up their presence there if other radio stations were allowed. If they did, then good riddance. Stations reach different demos and appealing to only one for the festival is ridiculous. Same thing with the NASCAR Days deal in Randleman. Only radio station there was PAW. Get real folks!

Depends on which side of the fence you are on!

I always wanted exclusive deals for my station(s) and always used the DubbaDon arguement with those organization that had exclusive deals with other stations. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

As for the success of the BBQ festival, there is little doubt in my mind that it is an economic thing. Purchases at events like that are purely impulse and those are the first to be hurt by an uncertain economy.

Just to jump in on that, I'd have to say that people who have money buy things and people who don't do not buy as many things.

Keep this in mind when putting together an exclusive or non exclusive event. An exclusive event will be all yours, so remember it's all on you!!! If it's non exclusive, you have to share it. I hope this clears it up.
