Godfather actor James Caan dead at age 82

I had a buddy in the Navy who claimed to be a cousin of James Caan. Always liked him as an actor. Buddy said he was a genuine good guy in real life as well.

Caan was an excellent actor and always wanted to take on challenging roles. "Thief" was one of his best. "The Godfather", "Rollerball", and many other films had memorable characters portrayed by Caan...

It's been a rough number of weeks for actors who played mobsters and "wise guys". James Caan, Paul Sorvino, Ray Liotta, Tony Sirico (a one-time real-life tough guy who spent a few stints in prison before turning to acting. He played the part of "Paulie Walnuts" on The Sopranos and had a bit part in Mickey Blue eyes). All have left us over the past weeks. RIP for sure.
