Going -- Going -- Almost GONE

Two central Valley AM CP's -- most likey are GONE. Bakersfield CP for the old Taft 1310 channel - with 1.4 KW day + 2.5 KW nights - (3 towers - DA2) and a worthless CP at Porterville by the Ether Mining group (Linday Williams of Lotus Bc, et al) with a daytime power of 1.5 KW and a whooping 500 watts at night (DA-2) with 4 towers. The clock will run out on both CP's on June 9, 2013. Just what both Porterville and Bakersfield -- do NOT need. Another radio station.

KTIP 1450 -- was offered to the KJUG group -- and rejected by Mr. car company himself. KJUG-AM had to resort to paid religion -- just to keep the station making any cash.

The KGEN move to Sanger has been taking forever- I wonder if that's ever going to happen. And is the Fresno area 1040 still a possibility?

All other AM CP's in the central valley -- have expired or have been turned in - like the 1150 ? at Easton. All are history -- just like the Standard AM Broadcast Band.

That's what I thought. Then I thought I saw something about the 1040 being re-submitted.
Shall we speculate on candidates for the next to go dark?

I wonder if 1150 is available ?

I always thought 1150 wouldn't work well due to 1130 KRDU being to close, the power on the original CP was 250 watts.

The application for 1040 at Sanger ( 250 watts Day + 1 KW Nights -- DA-2) is still on the books - but nothing has been done since an amendment was last filed in 2010 -- 3 years ago. The only other applications still pending are the two applications for 1470 - at Coalinga and at Huron. All have a very very slim chance of even being granted. None will ever be built. The Huron 1470 application was only filed as a "Back Fill" to protect the 98.3 relocation. The city of Coalinga will never rent or lease the proposed transmitter site -- located on city property to anyone. The old 1470 left a very bad taste in the mouth of city officials -- when dealing with the former owner of KOLI.

It is time that the FCC cleared all of the driftwood stations from the AM band. A minimum power of 1 KW Day + Night should be imposed. Move all TIS low powered stations to a new FM band. Make TV channels 2 to 6 into a new FM band and move the remaining 38 licensed TV stations in the US -- that remain on the lower 5 TV channels ( 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 and 6 ) to the upper band VHF or UHF channels -- that most were assigned to. Yes -- over half of the 38 remaining low band VHF TV stations were assigned upper band VHF or UHF channels prior to 2009. Only a very few were not given new channels to use.
Move most of the old class 4 - local channel stations -- over to new FM channels. Clean and clear off the AM Band.

I wonder when 98.3 is going to get built. Is Verne White involved in that? Probably, it's just being sold and resold as a CP. Playing musical CPs - a version of 'musical chairs'.

I remember looking at the interference overlap plot in the FCC file - to avoid overlap with 1130 the pattern was pencil-like, long and narrow- very tight pattern proposal

Don't think Verne White has anything to do with any real radio station -- any where. He has never been granted any FCC permit or license of any kind. He has only filed false applications at Avenal and Firebaugh - claiming to be "on the board of directors" -- in an identity Theft of the true license.

You will note that the Application to relocate Avenal to 106.9 is on the FCC "hold list".

The 1150 channel is a poor channel -- with a 50 KW station on 1150 in Los Angeles as well as being close to the 1130.

I remember that, it was multi-towers, I think around 4 or 5 towers, expensive to build.

KZLA - 98.3 B1 at Riverdale has until 9/5 of 2013 to become a radio station -- or history. The owner of 98.3 has been trying to sell the station and idea of a Class B1 -- since he applied for the station many years ago. The owners have long arms and short pockets. Don't waste your time waiting for the 98.3 to come "on the air".

The CP for 1310 Bakersfield and the CP for Porterville on 1330 -- are GONE. Add the FM CP for 98.3 B1 at Riverdale as almost gone. (expires 10/05/2013). Count the CP for KPSV FM Tulare on 91.9 B1 as GONE. (expires 8/12/2013). That CP was gone the day it was granted. The South Valley Peace Center -- holder of the CP - is a group of old hippie types that stand on the corner of Mooney Blvd on Sunday afternoons and protest against almost everything and anything. They have no cash and the real group behind the application was another "flakey group" called "Common Frequency" out of Davis, California. They only help file the application - most often for LPFM stations. The clock is also counting down on a few other area CP's.
