Going to try the XM XPMP3H1 Portable Satellite Radio.

Just ordered the XM XPMP3H1 Portable Satellite Radio. It had decent reviews off of Amazon, I'm going to see how well the signal works, I am also going to use it as a mp3 player also. With radio around here going down the tubes it seems like, I want something I can listen to. I like to have it portable. I realize it may not work at my work because it's a metal roof. But I may get lucky and get a signal by the window? I'll be playing around with it this week.

Reception won't be a problem with XM. The problem is with what they play, ( or don't)

Try listening to Austin radio for a week, never play anything new just the same old stuff, and no classic country, nothing.

I have had this radio for over a year, and am quite happy with it. It's amazing what all it does for its small size. I recently ordered a boom box like dock for it, but haven't tried it yet. When my Sony PNP gives up, this will become my main XM receiver. I am impressed how well it picks up the terrestial signals, even inside my house. I use it in the car with no external antenna and the car's aux input.

I do have some recorded music on it which I downloaded from XM, for when I can't get a signal or find music I want to listen to.
I still have a lot to learn about all its features.

Keep us posted on how well it does for you.

I guess since I'm not close to a repeater, I am getting lots of drops under trees etc. I am pretty close to Austin, I see it is picking up the repeater but very spotty at best. I was hoping it would work in the gym but I didn't have any luck.

If you don't resubscribe, I think the new breed of XM radios are crippled by the RIAA so you can't hear any of your recorded off the air material as they're not getting their montly royalties; you can only listen to your own MP3 provided music.
