Gold 95.9/Track 107.9 Voiceover question

Who does the voiceovers on Gold 95.9 and Track 107.9?

It sounds like Gold is using the same guy that Gold 104.5 used. Is that correct? Doug Paul, maybe?

How about the guy on 107.9? He sounds familiar and may have done the station ID's a few years ago. I will say this is a BIG improvement over the rather lame, wimpy female voiceovers that were used during the previous Lite Rock 107.9 format! At least the current guy displays some energy and enthusiasm. But who is he?

Since the Franklin station's signal doesn't go north of I-70, I can't hear who does their voiceovers.

What other stations has Jeff Davis done in Indy? I know that I've heard that voice before, but I can't place it.

I don't remember him in Indy. He's the long time voice of WLS.

Re: Track 107.9 Voiceover question

Before Entercom came to town, John Pleisse was WTPI's voice guy. When Entercom took over, they switched to David Kaye.

Jeff Davis is not only the long time voice of WLS, but also used to be on the air there in the late 70s - early 80s.

I don't remember WGLD's voiceguy's name, but I think he used to be the long time voice guy for WGN TV 9 in Chicago.

Am I right?

Re: Track 107.9 Voiceover question

Thanks, everyone!

Who was the female who did the very "laid back" voiceovers that 'TPI used until Monday?

I believe I've heard her at stations in other markets and maybe on some spots as well.

It's odd you say that, since I was listening in my car to them in Westfield!

I can pick them up there also. The key problem with such a weak rimshot signal is that it is extremely vulnerable to any kind of interference or side signals. For example, ANY nearby radio or TV tower will absolutely kill the signal altogether. The multi-tower complex at 79th & Township Line Rd. on the northside of Indy is a prime example. If you go anywhere near that place (even passing on 465 about a mile north of there), the signal is gone. I-70 also has some towers over on the eastside which can kill it.

Also, even where you can get it in an area like Westfield, the signal is very shallow-sounding with very little stereo seperation. Compare it to 107.9, 104.5 or 93.1 and you can hear the immediate difference.
