Gold-based Music Research

I'm curious if stations ever conduct Gold-based music research. Obviously a part of their regular testing, but do contemporary stations ever do this? By contemporary meaning all but the likes of AC where gold/familiar is a big part of their library.

Anyone ever done this, or seen it done?

Yes..in larger markets, statios do music tests with their gold
libraries, including oldies and classic rock stations.

Stations in larger markets that play currents will do some kind of call out research for those songs to track the fast moving songs.

Stations with both currents and gold or just gold test the full library and "what if" songs via AMTs or simmilar testing. Even stations in markets as small as Huntsville, Palm Springs and such do full library music tests.

A CHR might do several call out cycles a month in a midium to larger market, and several full AMTs a year for the full library.
