at the tiny oldies station I worked at in 1973.

On 800 AM -- the presunrise signal was so weak that X-Rock in Ciudad de Juarez covered up the station like a heavy blanket before dawn.

250 watt 870 KFJZ (a daytimer) (worked there/Summer of 86) was covered up quite a bit by WWL New Orleans by Sunset. If we'd been on the air after dark, very few people would've been able to hear us.

When I would pick up my girlfriend from college early in the morning, XEROK was blasting through.

The seven-watts preauthorization did not work well. :)

It's a cool record, and written by Sloan/Barri who wrote a bunch of hits for the Grass Roots, Turtles, Barry McGuire.. It should have done better than #30 (November '65 Billboard).

I saw Jan & Dean at the old Casino Magic in Shreveport in the fall of 1997, and had a great time. They brought out James Burton (who was running a local club there) for a long jam on "Barbara Ann".

I also got them to sign a few old Liberty albums and though Jan didn't speak very well because of the horrible accident that almost took his life in 1966 (though he sang fine) he told me was very proud of the records he produced and was happy that someone still collected them and kept them in good shape. It's a real shame he passed away a few years ago.
