Gone to the Dark Side

Got an XM radio for Father's Day.

I have to say so far I'm pretty impressed by the programming.

Boy, am I relieved.

After reading the heading, I was thinkin' you were going to tell us you were working for Clear Channel. You would have been tarred and feathered by the gang on this Board!

Actually, Clear Channel Sales would be the DARK SIDE, right? That would complete the evil trifecta, as we know it on this board... CFKane

Sales? Let's not get nasty.

My first thought about XM? Someone on the 70s channel actually knows how to mix the transitions from jingles to music. It actually sounds like the old days.

That's not going to the dark side anymore, just because of the niche programming. I've been thinking about getting the XM portable for ESPN Radio and The Fish, for starters.

deep tracks xm 40 for those who arent single minded</P>

Chances are, someone who remembers what radio used to sound like in the 70's is now programming that specific XM channel. I was similarly impressed with the 70's rock station that came along with my satellite TV contract. Refreshing.

I have to wonder: are most oldies stations being programmed these days with some kind of a corporate-purchase music catalog? Only a handful of oldies stations I've heard around the country seem to deviate from this packaged sound.

Just my humble opinion, which combined with a buck will get you a cup of coffee.
