Good Bye ONN TV ...

I wonder what the cable companies will replace it with. Pretty much the overnights on ONN was nothing but infomercials these days. Heck even Channel 10's 2nd channel has weather during the day and infomercials on the overnights. Channel 10 could have done better with it's secondary channel. Though you must admit HLN no longer has 24 hour newscasts and the Weather Channel keeps the temperatures on screen but it isn't having continuous nationwide broadcasts.

I'd read the article, but I can't get past the paywall... Things must be tight across the board over there.

Apparently they've capped the number of "read for free" articles.  Maybe you've  tried this already, but just clearing cookies and temp files (by running ccleaner) restored my access last time I ran into the same issue.  I also notice that Google says "Preview not available" for that article.  I've noticed more newspapers doing this lately, but normally they allow you to get around it with free registration.  But it looks like the Dispatch wants cold cash.

ONN???

You know, I always pictured myself actually watching it someday...now it looks that someday will never get here.

Oh to be near death and confined to a bed in a room where the tv has no ability to pick anything else up!!!!

The only time I watched ONN was when they did Crew games, although production was terrible. I knew from their promos when it started up it would not interest me on a regular basis.

(this does not affect the radio product)

So ONN Radio lives to see another day...but for how long? It used resources originating from ONN TV, right? I smell more changes in the works.

In another broadcast life, I contributed a few stories to ONN Radio. That's more or less the totality of my involvement with Columbus radio.

I've watched it on a few occasions. Charlie VanDyke's VO's made the channel sound good.

ONN Radio came first in (I think) roughly the late 70s and originally fed its programming to afillaites over the ABN land lines. Sound quality sounded bad as if the news anchor was speaking over the telephone in the basement of the state house.

Sports Ohio Network (now ONN Sports) carried the yearly Little Brown Jung from Delaware

I think ONN Radio was actually around before TV and has a pretty strong affiliate base in the small-to-medium size cities.

Yes, ONN Radio is run out of the WBNS A-F facilities and has been around for a long time.. (operations and up-link are at the WBNS TV location)

Station list: http://www.onnradio.com/content/sections/affiliates/index.html

ONN Radio is fed via RSN (formerly Radio Sound Network) which is an arm of the Dispatch Group.. They also are the folks who feed Ohio State Football to affiliates http://www.rsnsatelliteservices.com/about.cfm

Btw, When did WBNS A-F move to South Front Street? I remember their previous location South 3rd Street next to what is now the Columbus Commons park.
