good minor DX tonight

KCOL-FM from Beaumont coming in well

got several in the car unidentified

BOB FM from somewhere

another station playing "Third Eye Blind" in the car

i'm not really trying hard enough... what's a good regular type antenna I can plug into my cheap sony HTIB (the connector is your regular cable TV looking type one)? sticking it out the window at night is no problem if that improves reception. right now I just have some single pole and dipole antennas that are probably better for TV reception. I am on a 3rd floor apartment though which helps a lot but the large buildings over in uptown impede a lot of western signals (stereo on 96.5 is hit or miss)

Your "Bob FM" is KBPA-San Marcos, Texas @ 103.5. That's a pretty regular catch here in Houston, as is KCOL-Groves @ 92.5. If you could provide some frequencies of your catches, we'll be able to identify most, if not all, of them.

As for antennas, I have an Antennacraft FMSS Omnidirectional hooked up to my Fisher home stereo. Antenna is hooked up in the attic of my house here in Houston and I find it to be a pretty good set up for the $25 dollars I paid for it. Very easy installation for the novice type, and it's a simple design that serves its purpose. I think you'll be happy with the results, and I'd sure like to hear your feedback if you do go get one as I'd like to see how it performs from a 3rd story of a building. The Antennacraft is available at Radio Shack and is available in store, you don't have to order it and wait. Good luck, Mike.
