Good info about Radio Station Billing!

I know I am a week late, but just got around to reading this,I will put it out there for anyone else interested who might not have had the time to read it during the week. http://www.bostonradiowatch.com/ (scroll down to 4/7)
It talks about the good billing Radio Stations in this market and explains the power ratio, some interesting stuff besides WBOS.
WMKK is in the top 10 in billing.
WTTK is making WRKO eat its dust, power ratio wise.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more discussion about the BIA numbers on this board. They explain a lot about why stations run the formats they do, regardless of 12+ ratings performance.

WMKK making the top 10 in billing is not a surprise. WBMX also enjoys healthy billings despite low 12+ numbers. Even WBOS outperforms it's ratings. The 25-44 demos these stations target are the ones most agencies want to reach.

The numbers for WODS look encouraging but they need to be concerned about that negative power ratio. They're the only station in the top ten with a PR under one. Hopefully they can convert their recent ratings successes into additional revenue. Still, oldies fans don't have much to worry about. The station isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

You have to wonder about the talk formats though. Talk is an expensive format to run and the billings at both WTKK and WRKO are underwhelming. In fact, for WRKO this is the second consecutive year their power ratio is under a 0.5. That's pathetic. If a music station was performing this poorly (WCRB) people on these boards would be screaming for them to flip to Spanish or sports. Yet there has been no talk about format changes at either station. How much longer can TKK & RKO continue to split the talk audience? There may only be room for one conservatalker in this town.

I too was intrigued by the billing info as reported on BRW. Much food to digest there.

Over the years I've found Boston Radio Watch to be on top of the Radio scene and often has the breaking scoop on Radio happenings. I check it out regularly. BRW, not quite like the late Norma Nathan but very much on top of the Radio news. Thanks BRW.<P ID="signature">______________
