Good Job Clear Channel Hartford

I think it was a good move for Clear Channel Hartford to decide to put 97.9 ESPN's Afternoon Show The Bower Show on FOX Sports Radio 1410 on Wednesdays while 97.9 was tied up carrying The Yankees-Dodger's Double Header. They were even promoting it on 97.9 and on Facebook. "Not interested in listening to The Yankees-Dodgers Game? Tune into The Bower Show Right Now on Hartford's FOX Sports Radio 1410."

P.S. They even promoted this on ESPN 1300's Facebook Page, but unless you listen via I-Heart Radio I don't believe you can pick up FOX Sports Radio 1410 in The New Haven area. (The Bower show is simulcast on 1300 AM daily).

Clear Channel will not consider dropping a product they distribute for a Cumulus-distributed product produced by their cross-town rival, CBS Radio.

I don't care for FOX Sports Radio nor CBS Sports Radio. FOX is slightly above CBS, IMHO. I've listened to CBS Sports Radio for a few minutes several times via WINE out of Brookfield/Danbury and it's about as exciting as "fat-free gravy." As for WPOP I think their local morning show hosted by Paul Nanos is pretty decent. To me ESPN will always be the best all-sports radio network. I like Mike & Mike, and Coherd. And The Bower Show the local Afternoon Show on 97.9 ESPN/ESPN 1300 is pretty good too. Speaking of all-sports radio back in the day I used to enjoy listening to Papa Joe Chevalier on the former One-on-One sports network, which is the network WPOP was affiliated when they first went all-sports in '97.

For talk about my two favorite sports, baseball and hockey, I'll Sirius XM's MLB Network Radio and NHL Network Radio (formerly Home Plate and Home Ice) over national sports talk radio any time. At least with satellite, I know I'll hear about more than one hot issue or more than just a few big-market, high-profile teams. If I've already heard a local host's take on A-Rod's tweets or the Aaron Hernandez arrest, why do I need to know what Colin Cowherd or Mike Golic thinks, much less hear them pound away on the overexposed subject non-stop for an hour or two? National sports talk is great as off-hours and weekend filler. As a full-time format, it does little but promote a brand and it fully deserves the consistent 0.9s and 1.3 ratings it usually generates.

True and technical Clear Channel does help CBS as Clear Channel iheart radio app is the only way Cumulus stations stream online.
