Good Job Doctor_Radio: Your Station Sounds Better

A lot of stuff improved this past week

1. Their imaging is less than 10 seconds now during music sweeps
2. The playlist is tightened up and much more focused and their playing mostly hits now but it still needs improve since theyre still playing some stiffs that will die on MTV and/or the modern rock chart
3. The jocks sound like they had their first aircheck sessions. No more hearing two minute long rants like before when KKCK was the station where anyone could crack open a mic and puke whatever the hell you want

What still needs improvement

1. Only play certified hits on the R & R and/or Mediabase Charts and do not play any golds unless its a specialty show like Flashback Lunch. Play more recurrents to replace the occasional gold category song. Do not go before 1996 during Flashback Lunch and play a few currents and recurrents in that hour as you right now go from the Late 70's until early 2000's
2. Drop the alternative rock show on Sunday nights and let Open House Party run until 11:00 instead of cutting off at 10 for the two hour show. It is a good way to kill P-1's
3. Dont do Old School Weekends and if you do do it the same way I suggested Flashback Lunch as you right now go from the 70's to today and promoting an Old School Easter weekend
4. Only promoted and give away concert tickets for CHR artists as you (Doctor) were giving away Chiodos tickets Friday night

Your obsession is starting to get a little scary. Although it's nice to hear you speak of the good things for once.

If Truthsayer were really THAT good, the advice wouldn't be offered for free. "You get what you pay for!"

Well....I suppose I would value blind advice from this site higher than blind advice from a post on redandnater...

Isn't RedAndNater.com the website about Jim Hoy or something?

1) Tell that to 97.9 NCI Columbus - they play plenty of 80s hits during the lunch hour.
2) There's nothing wrong with having an Alternative show on any night, let alone on a Sunday night. Just like some stations will air three hours of 90s hits on Sunday nights (like 107.5 The River Nashville) or some stations will air nothing but Dance music on Friday and Saturday nights. Oh, and let's not forget Marshall doesnt have an Alternative nor an Active Rock station. I'd say KKCK is doing a great service to its audience by offering a Modern Rock show.

1. What is a "certified" hit?? Didn't K-Tel release a Certified Hits 8-track back in the 70's??
2. CHRles hit the nail on the head regarding a specialty show on Sunday night.
3. Well, you MUST be right about the Old School weekend since you said "Don't do [them]".
4. Since you are playing the role of PD, I'll play the role of OM:

OM: The GSM asked if we could give away tickets to a show which may not be an artist you play, but the client is spending money.

PD: No!

OM: Well, we are in a small market...the economy is not great...if we refuse, we could jeopardize futre sales with said client.

PD: NO! NO! NO!

OM: Would you like to discuss the fact you may cost the station money with the GM and/or owner?

PD: Yes, I would.

OM: I hope your demo is updated...here's a box for your desk...good luck!

The point is, it's a business and sometimes you have to do things that are in the best interest of the business...

Going back to the topic here, I think Doctor Radio should position the station as (ALL THE HITS),,,, Because this is honestly the only station I ever heard that honestly really does play All The Hits..... Just think, if Doctor Radio just eased up on the gold and older NON Hits, (which he has backed off of alot) than he would be running a very cutting edge Youth Friendly Chr, kinda just like MTV on the FM Radio...... Nothing wrong with that, it would be an Anything Goes CHR, kinda like the old I-100 WOKI Knoxville. Most of you probably dont remember this station, but I know Chrles remember's it quite well. WOKI was Rock leaned for most of the 80s, but by 1990 they would begin to play alot of Dance and Rap Music, while also remaining very Rock Focused. Also, back in 90 and early 91 in Seymour Indiana there was a station called Z-93.7 that was very similar to Doctor Radio's station. The one thing that would be really cool is if Doctor Radio's station 99.7 had a Dance Mixshow on Friday nights, I know they carry OHP on Saturdays and Sundays, plus they air a Modern Rock show on Sunday Nights, which is very good.

I could not disagree more about this pile of crap. I guess "Push It", "Shoop", "Whatta Man", "Baby Got Back", "Do Me!", "Poison", "Now That We Found Love", etc can't be spiked in on a CHR? If you say "no", I would go so far to say I wouldn't even trust you programming a jukebox.

2. Drop the alternative rock show on Sunday nights and let Open House Party run until 11:00 instead of cutting off at 10 for the two hour show. It is a good way to kill P-1's

Proof, please? And from a market with the exact same demographics please.

Oh. You can't produce them. Didn't think so. ::)

Well I question hearing Duffy's Mercy and Jimmy Eat World's Always Be on a CHR with one being a hot A/C stiff and the other being an alternative song. Flo Rida's Elevator is hot and Doc's station is the only CHR (i hesitated to call his station that) in my region playing it, then it was followed by an 80's stiff called Bang The Drum All Day by Todd Rundgren. Now You're Gone by Basshunter is a hot dance song that they played today.

Doctor can do whatever he wants on his station, he doesn't listen to free consultants like me. A CHR with a tight playlist spining its powers 80 times a week will stomp over a wannabe CHR with a 5,000 song playlist spinning its powers 45 times a week.
