I do not understand something. Kitty is an icon in Raleigh/Durham radio. I would think "they" would want her to host the morning show on "The New RDU", "The Old RDU" or whatever the hell they are calling that mess down there at 100.7 ???

Stuart your idea makes too much sense. I'm sure the guys who make the big bucks have "research" which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that she has a negative image of some sort. Forget the fact she has name recognition and listeners may actually enjoy listening to her, if the "research" or consultant says otherwise, she's unemployed.

The reason they told her they were going in a different direction is they are catering to a male audience, a male blue collar audience at that. The new imaging is pickup truck driving targeted. Kitty will wind up on another station someplace.

Kitty has mellowed out too much to work on that format, I hate to say. MAYBE she could fit in middays, but that is even a stretch. She sounds at home on an AAA - which is why she ended up on the old River in the first place.

I feel bad for her because she's one of the better people still in radio, but I guess business is business.

Not many options around here, though; ever since 96.1 was rebranded "Radio 96.1" (the move that brought about Blade's demise) I have not heard one single jock there. No other similarly-formatted stations around here I can think of
