Good Luck Adam Bomb - Q100's got an all-star!

Also on the Q100 main page ....

"Straight from South Beach to Atlanta... meet Adam Bomb. YOUR new night show on All The Hits Q100. Listen all week as celebs call the studio to welcome Adam to the ATL!"

South Beach? There's a shocker ... the former Y100 PD (now OM of Q) kicks Geller to the curb and brings in someone from south Fla.

I know nothing. Details folks?

I doubt he works cheaper, but I think he's an excellent fit for Q100 at night. He's kind of a quintessential CHR night jock. Atlanta really hasn't had one since perhaps Domino on Power 99 when Domino was young. (I thought Domino's show on 105.3 The Max a couple years ago was awful.) Back to Mr. Bomb ;D, I think he gives Q100 an advantage in the jock department over Star 94 at night.

I always thought Nudge reminds me of Domino a bit when he was young (at least voicewise and in energy). When I heard Domino (many years later) on Kiss in Dallas ... my first reaction was it didn't even sound like the Domino I remembered on Power 99. Hint Nudge ... you likely won't either. lol

Nudge is perfect for Star at night ... targeting the 'hot moms' but also he has young adult appeal ... except maybe for the squeky clean image of Star 94 and not being able to do phone bits with young adults that might be borderline and offend the upper demo of Star's soccer mom driving their kids around in mini-vans .... bits that Q wouldn't even think twice about.

And Mr. Bomb has to assume all the responsibility that once fell upon the shoulders of Geller .... since according to previous posts when Geller departed ... Geller was the glue that single-handley held Q100 together ... Q100 being the fragal deck of cards it is. Carry on young Mr. Bomb ... and Godspeed to you in the responsibility and load that you now carry.

Are we sure that Mr. Bomb hasn't gone through grad school? For all we know, he could be Dr. Bomb.

I agree that Nudge is a good fit for Star at night although they don't seem to let him do his hot mom stuff anymore.

I'm surprised and impressed by this hire. While I'm not sure what canning Geller and picking Bomb up accomplished, the latter is an exceptional jock. Hopefully, the powers that be will give him some space to actually put on a show, which his predecessor apparently couldn't do in the latter days of his stint at Q.

As for the night jocks carrying all the wright of the station at the moment, I'd say that in both the case of Geller and Adam Bomb, they *were* the best talent the station had to offer, but I'd say Bert is the glue that holds the station together, honestly.

Makes you wonder if Roberts is calling the shots now. I mean, this hire has his name written all over it...

Good luck, Adam!

I got the impression from the email that Geller sent to Rodney Ho that Geller's leaving was a mutual decision. He wasn't happy with the new format restrictions.

The key with that station and most CHR's is to inject personality within the confines of the format, often over song intros. Tracy St. George gets it done as does Dylan. Geller was more of a morning show in the evening. Based on what I've heard so far, I feel that Adam Bomb will be able to do it.

And if he wanted to augment his Q100 work with a part-time job, he could be a policeman as Officer Bomb, a teacher as Professor Bomb or a cook as Chef Bomb. He could do the Bomb family proud.

Are we sure he completed years 7 & 8? Is he Dr. Bomb, PhD .... or Mr. Bomb, Masters in Bombwork

gee ... must be that "Bert Show in the Morning and 10-in-a-row every hour" positioning that gives that away.

Seriously, I'm sure they considered "Geller & Phone Hottie Wendy at nights and 10-in-a-row every hour" but it just didn't test well.

Don't get me STARTED on 10-in-a-row. Just DON'T.

I'm sensing an element of sarcasm from your post? As good a jock as Geller is, Bert is undeniably the anchor of that station so I'm not surprised they chose him to hype up the 10-in-a-row crap.

I think 10-in-a-row (which I at first mocked) will be a successful tactic for Q100. The are doing well at being music intensive with personality. The promotions (the $10,000 10-in-a-row thing and the Q Cash car) will do the job. With Adam Bomb the whole line-up is now solid 5:30 am - 11 pm. I predict Q100 may break into the upper 2s or 3s 12+ within the next two books. The gap between Q100 and Star 94 will be narrowed, with Q doing great 18-34.

The one thing missing on Q100 is they need to ditch "all night all request" and get someone live in there 11 pm - 2am.

Why do you dislike 10-in-a-row?

Because it's the same exact tactic Cumulus uses on their other CHR's (KRBE/Houston, WZAT/Savannah). I also wish Q's musical selection would be a little less recurrent and Hot AC-leaning (what do you know, same style of KRBE!) But deep down, I *do* want to see Q100 do well, truthfully, and I think the promotions they're doing and new night jock hire are both solid... if they tighten up the music a little bit, they'll be in very good shape.
