Good Luck To Q105

Wow. Well I don't wake up early enough to hear his show anymore, but I abandoned the Q when they started saturation bombing my ears with lawyer referral services.

So when you decide to aim a little higher on the food chain, and not on the lower class, lower educated entitlement society that says "I want what I want" and 'Gimme mine AND yours", you can call me at 1-800-ax- me if I want to come back to the Q.

Good luck.

I thought that "Ask Gary" thing was only pounded into the ground during the make believe "Big Chill Bar & Grill" lunch hour. Of course, I listen to the station online, so perhaps I'm missing something...

I don't think that's unique to the Q. I think the entire CBS cluster is in on that one. At least I noticed it a lot on WSJT, and you are right, it is annoying.

Now I remember - Q105 broadcasts from the "Ask Gary studios." Many stations use this gimmick for a cash grab. Nothing new.

well zzzzzz if management feel the way you do i'm sure they won't sign him to a contract extension. woops. give the man credit for anchoring a station that is doing extemely well. #1 cbs station in the market as i see it.

You're obviously not in radio, or you would know that advertisements are a necessary evil in order to pay overhead and salaries. The economy is still bad, so we don't say "no" to any company that wants to buy time, regardless of how high their customers are on the food chain or their educational level.

Sad, but true...

Been there, done that, and I do miss it, even having to produce long winded infomercials for car dealers and investment brokers...but even the snake oil that was pitched is levels above personal injury accident attorneys that prey on people...that already have mandatory no fault insurance which pays their medical and wage loss....unless the referral firms cater to the motorist who refuses to buy auto insurance..several million potential clients there..thats another kettle of stinky fish.

.Kind of sad your a/e's can't step up. but with the 20-30s generation raised on Morton Downey Jr, Jerry Springer and tv reality shows which tolerate, accept and even encourage greedy behaviour, what should we expect?....Other clusters seem to get by without catering to ambulance chasers and the entitlement -for-me demographic.

Quoting the late, great wordsmith, Nipsey Russell "We've upped our standards....so up yours."

Since you're capable of such cunning double entendre, you are also high-functioning enough to understand how media buyers place their advertisements. Just in case you left the business before ad agencies stepped into the picture, let me explain: They mostly buy stations that are doing well in the 25-54 demo, especially in the female category. Since more than one CBS station has owned that demo for the last year, they got the "Ax Gary" buy, while other companies did not.

I feel no need to insult you, just to educate you.

Sweet for you. So the biggest spending advertiser of all the clients who aim 25-54 is an lawyer referral firm? Really?

You name the studios after them, along with :30s and drop-ins ad nauseum. (The Q's counter part in Orlando, 105.9 does this, but its with a Honda dealership. Quick n Slick, but far less insulting to the audience.)

As an a/e, you quote chapter and verse the ad agency dance, and yes, they were around long before I left...but back then it was beer, soft drinks, jewelery shops, department stores, restaurants, auto dealers...though we never named a studio after them....and seeing as you made no reference to the type of folks Gary aims for (previously referenced), which would transcend to the type of listener you are identified with...... you appear to have a steadily eradicating soul...which means, my friend, you are on the fast track to GSM status....

Radio for a long time has appealed to the lower class. Just go to a remote :D

Ever been to the Houston market. Now there my friends is some low class commercials.

BTW...big difference in the 45 year old female who listens to Lite AC oldies IE:The Dove and Q-105 Mason Dixon /Tom Kent style. I think you catch my drift.
