Good MIc to travel with

I've got one. It's okay. About what you would expect from a mic at that price. The difference between it and others is that it's a little bit darker. I tried it as a travel mic and will be switching to a Rode NT1000 next time I travel.

For a mic only deal? I am liking the Audio Technica AT-2020 USB mic. (..and I am not a huge AT fan..but ya know? they sell a hell of a good mic for the price) Takes a nice EQ curve and really is convenient. No converters or extra cables..on a laptop with Adobe Audition and a decent plug in like WaveArts' Dialog it's amazingly good..and as mentioned in an earlier post it powers up on the iPad! These days things are shrinking huh? Did a TV spot for Washington DC yesterday while waiting in the drive-thru line for a new "Ultimate Angus Philly Cheesesteak" at Arby's..and nobody said a word about audio quality. I put the file up on the big speakers when I got back..and it was really really good! It wouldn't match with a track from our usual studios..but as a standalone..it was perfectly good..and better than a lot.?.for example the AKG Perception 120-USB...and the wired version.??...c-r-a-p deluxe!

ymmv..just my humble opinion.

Seriously Jeff?! ;D
You won't even stop for an Ultimate Angus Philly Cheesesteak?! Man, talk about misplaced priorities....heh-heh-heh
Had any experience with the Yeti or the Yeti Pro?

What do you want to do with the mic while traveling? Local recording? Skype? If you like dynamic mics, take a look at the ATR2100-USB from Audio-Technica. It's XLR and USB. The quality is better than an SM58 but not as good as an RE20. It has a nice presence peak in the vocal range, if you like that sort of thing. I do. I'd love to hear one on Jeff's voice. By the way, they're $50 on Amazon.com.
