Good Morning America, Messes Up

Good Morning America this morning screwed up, similar to what happend at CNN last week. On the EDT Edition between 7:00 and 7:30 they cut to an interview with Hilary Clinton. Well about 30 seconds or so into it, you hear people in the control room talking, but you cant hear any of the audio from the interview. Here are some quotes from the control room. One lady said "What is going on?" and another man was yelling "OPEN 50, OPEN 50" and then you could hear a bunch of russeling in the background. After about 15 seconds of that they finally came back to the news desk to tell us they had "Audio Problems". About 5 minutes later they cut to a live report, with a story within it. The reporter introduced the story and then it played. Well once again there was no audio. The one thing you did hear is the reporter say "I can't hear my piece". Then they cut back to the reporter and he wraped up the story. Diane and Robin Roberts just played off the audio problems as a joke and said when they return for the 7:30 hour Diane said it would be "with audio". I don't know if its news worthy. But I thought it was funny to hear the people in the control room scrambleing as they messed up. It was very similar to what happend at CNN last week during the busch interview when a reporters microphone was opened.

I've seen this happen an insane amount of times at the local level the last few years. Can this be an indication of the quality of staff and/or too much reliance on computers?

Probably more computer/technical problems than staff. Most everything is run by an automatic switcher, and most of that switcher software is hosted on Microsoft-powered servers - and we all know that Microsoft software is infalliable. ;D

Speaking Of GMA. Whatever happened to David Hartman? He started when the show began in 1975. And left in the early part of 1987. I still have have his final show on tape. It was your typical farewell for a morning show anchor. 95% best wishes from movie & tv stars. And 5% news & weather. He did many interviews & seemed to be well liked by the stars. Funny thing. He said at the time. He was not going to retire. Just move on to do 'special documentaries' for ABC. But that never happened. Joan Lundon is missed as well. She hasn't done anything new with ABC or A&E.

He went to PBS. I guess he just took the projects he wanted to do for ABC and made them non-commercial. Some of them have aired on the History Channel also.

As for Joan, she hosted that trainwreck of a reality show on CBS where people were competing to be the next Martha Stewart that filled in between Survivor seasons last year. Don't know if that's coming back this season.
