Good Morning, Jane Robelot

Jane Robelot will be doing morning news on WMUU - Conservative Talk 94.5 - according to this morning's Tom Taylor Newsletter. Mr. Taylor did not report a start date.

Eric

I heard Mike Gallagher interview her this morning at 11:30. Apparently she started this morning, but I didn't get to hear Bennett today. They spoke of how they both worked with Greg Anderson early in their careers in Greenville, who is now a big guy with Salem. I remember Greg from my WMIT days. He is a good guy.

I'm guessing she's just doing it to keep a connection to the biz, because she could do MUCH more and better. She's way better than most of the female news anchors in this market, IMO.

Hell, she was good enough for the national market when being tapped for CBS This Morning. Although that obviously wasn't as successfull as they'd hoped, she still had to have talent to get there. Don't know her personal life at the moment, but yeah, I'd say this is more of something to just keep her feet wet.

Someone told me WMUU doesn't even use the letters and might change them. The web stream says WGTK.

Don't you know a classic country station wants those letters so they can say MOOOO!

Jane was definitely some of the better talent around here in years - the only news team I really like are Trent Butler and Diana Watson at FOX. Everything else seems so stale and "been there, done that."

Gatekeeper:

Someone should pair WIGL and WAGL..then you could call them Wiggle Waggle Radio.

I have family in zhreenville. Jane Robelot always seemed like a class act. I wish her well.

One more off subject: Back when key market group had WIGL wiggle 106.7 they also owned WSSL whistle 100.1 up in Greenville and a small station north of there. We often said they should have named it giggle then they would have had wiggle, whistle, and giggle.

I think Jane Robelot may still do special reporting assignments on WYFF News-4. But they should have her co-anchor the 5pm news with Nigel Robertson, as they continuously seem to go through revolving anchors in this time period. But perhaps she doesn't want a full time TV job anymore. But she would be excellent as a strong and appealing anchor on Channel 4, and would be a great addition to the 5:00 show. And they would still have Carol Goldsmith at 6 and 11. And on the Charlotte channels I receive with an attic antenna, I also think Maureen O'Boyle is very good on WBTV.

For me, I know of Jane Robelot. I do not know Jane Robelot, nor are we actual acquaintances. However, both of us frequent area flea markets, and upon sight, each of us wave. Since I have worked in both Radio & TV, I might be able to shed some light her employment in this market. When she hit it Big, we were all proud to boast that she came from this market. After so long, in NYC, she too became a victim of "a never satisfied industry". With either 4, 7, or 21, it all shakes down to three factors: Salary, Status, and Oppertunity(room). The latter two are truly the roots of "Why Not". With 4 or 7, one of the main anchors would have to leave, in order to have "room". Status would have to be discussed with management, before anything could get signed. Only 21 would have to stretch to reach the correct salary number. When Pulitzer sold WYFF to Hearst-Argyle, Stephanie Fisher left, due to a forced pay-cut. All the regulars stayed, and now the station's ownership is listed as Hearst(only) Broadcasting. As for Jane on the radio, Salem really wants to make an impression in this market, and she was/is a very creditable choice. They are probably paying her quite well, just to do "a little". It makes sense for them, and she wants to work here. So, Salem gave her Room, Status, and Pay,...past her trouble to do so! Even today, Radio still has some Egos, but TV has always maintained theirs.
