GOOD NEWS (FOR A CHANGE?)

Hey all -

WYAB 103.9 FM has just completed another move - making our broadcast facility just 14 miles from downtown Jackson - to a great tower on top of "Mount Leopard" in southern Madison County. We went on the air (with a full power signal) last Monday afternoon.

That's four (count 'em, four) different towers (1. Benton -> 2. Scotland -> 3. Kearney Park -> 4. SE of Flora), three different cities of license (1. Yazoo City -> 2. Benton -> 3. Flora), two different frequencies (1. 93.1 FM -> 2. 103.9 FM), and two different formats (1. Oldies -> 2. News/Talk) since the station went on the air in on 93.1 FM in 1997 in a double-wide trailer on Broadway street in Yazoo City.

Who says that radio is dead? At least it's making a good living for the tower crews and various landlords, right?

...now fill out those Arbitron books people!

Did that little LPFM in Jackson ever move or are they still trying to eke out an existence on 103.7? Last time I was down there 103.9 and 103.7 were something of a mess around Lakeland Drive.

WLEZ is now operating under a Special Temporary Authority on 100.1 FM, pending finalization of the contours-based (same as translators) engineering allowances for LPFMs. Once the "new" rules are more or less final, the FCC will open up a filing window for new LPFM stations.

Coming in pretty well in Jackson. I'm off Northside Dr. between State Street and I-55. Slightly scratchy on the headphones, but a little better than it was before.

You have the Braves!!! Sweet! Well as long as they are netcast this year? I cant get the stream right now?

Seems a little better in North Jackson. I can pick it up in the office now.
Gets scratchy south of UMC/Woodrow Wilson. Not really listenable
south of Baptist Hospital. Not bad for what it is.

Still way better than it was on 93.1 FM coming in from Yazoo City, eh Bob?

We've actually got some further upgrading to go....
