Good News? WGY Appoints News Director/PD

Paul Ihander comes to WGY by way of Pueblo, Colorado, where he oversaw news/talk KCSJ, as well as sports KDZA. Chuck Custer, who currently holds the position, will concentrate on the morning show.

I hope this is a sign that WGY will improve, if not uphold, their commitment to local news. Not too long ago, Clear Channel's WELI in New Haven was running a canned news update during Rush's show about a missing person, when the person had been found by the time the update ran. True, New Haven is not Albany... but Clear Channel is Clear Channel.

How much power does a Clear Channel local exec have? Enough to can Beck (like other outlets have been doing nationwide) and go back to local talk in his time slot? Imagine a WGY talk show with other than a right wing clone point of view!
