Traveled back into Seattle this week and good news the market sounds better! Ya ya good. For all the complaints
about budget cuts and hurtin there are some good signs. Monti and Brooke are a breath of fresh air with a real and relelvent show. The talk about doing the nasty today at work and the revelation that Monti made were classic storytelling. Ya ya Sisterhood great. The difference is that Monti and Brooke are real while Tman makes up
a fake voice and fake stories and J@B babble on about britney, paris and stars no one cares about. M@B are on the
right path. I would say the same about BJ on kisw though it is for guys it has the smae feel as Monti and Brooke.
Much improved. M@B and BJ are real and talk about real experiences they have had that are itneresting. J@B are
radio pukers that talk off comedy sheet and entertianment wires. Rivers, K@A nad Ichabod are just dull and keep the grayhaired men and ladies in stiches isuppose. Fitz sounds
a bit like J@B and needs to get back to bein real. The new guy on KIRO is frickin awesome at night. Luke appeals
to my generation and my ya ya sisters three good shows emerging in Seattle for guys and gals big props
to Monti and Brooke, BjShea and Luke B. Not all is bad in radio and mammaknows best.
 
oh yeah, and Mamma is the biggest joke in the industry...she hates her life and her exile to Portland. Noone takes her seriously cause she is an obvious shill with no credibility.
I heard about this all chick morning show and after a quick listen I was embarrased to be a female in the industry.

I agree with your comments about T-Man and Jacky and Bender are Montana radio at best, but I gotta tell you that between Monti, Tman and Jacky and Bender the kids are goin for Tman based on the ratings dear lady :-\

As for Rivers, K@A and Ichabod, they each have their down books but come back okay though I do agree the appeal is probably older ;)

Now about the three shows you think are the fatback on the pig. BJ is making inroads, but the show does wonder a bit for me. I don;t get the whole "girls show" thang but I got extra equipment that maybe disqualifies me as a listener. As for the night show at KIRO the jury is still out on that one. Seemed rocky when I first listened but different from the rest of the stuff on the AM dial :p

I do agree with you in one respect Mammmaaaa. We could use some good news around here with all the cutbacks. First Clear Channel, then Bonneville, then Infinity. Entercom is rumored to be next. Not a lot to hoowlwwwllll about right now :'(

I will agree on the T-Man aspect...but does it really matter? T-Man is not going ANYWHERE anytime soon.

M & B are repetitive. They are giving women in the industry a bad rap...not ALL female radio shows are this estrogen loving, man-hating crunchy granola garbage. And word on the street is that they voicetrack almost every break. Now THAT is some classy market 14 radio. I don't remember "storytelling" being a novel radio gimmick? Only tell a story if your audience can feed off it...these chicks sound like the prissy clique gossiping in the bathroom in high school.

And the debate rolls on...who IS mamma? Lisa? If not, I peg it on Ms. Monti herself. Lisa could've easily taken Monti with her to Portland, but she didn't. So why admire from afar just to rattle everybody's cage? I think it's a sad, desperate attempt at self-gratification. Some people need to be told that they are great. And if they aren't told that, might as well tell themselves. Notice nobody has cared enough to post anything about the MOViN morning show for a month at least. Maybe she feels "unsure" and needs some pats on the back. And you're not gonna get them here!

J & B cater to their audience. They KNOW that their listeners are younger than their target demo, and the younger audience DOES care about Britney Spears and all of the celebrity nonsense. Mamma may not care, but this brings up the age-old debate...to cater to your target demo, or to your actual audience?
 
Oh with the T-Man hating. Lets face facts here, even if you love him or hate him, he is very talented and successful! He wouldnt be killing everyone in his demo here, and he sure as hell wouldnt be getting syndicated to other markets if he wasnt. Say what you want, but the bottom line is this, HE WORKS! And if KISS, MOViN or even KIRO got the chance, they would snatch him up in a New York minute.

As far as everyone else, Jackie & Bender serve their audience fine, and I assume, that they would work much better in a market without a heritage monster like T-Man to go up against. Im surprised that Z100 Portland didnt think about it when they blew out Buckhead. But with the CCU cost cutting measures...ah, you get it.

The jury is still out on M&B, but I would count them out. They are kinda like backing Ron Paul for President, it may look good on paper, but it just doesnt work. And just like Mr. Paul, Im sure they wont go away anytime soon either. But they arent going to stage a revolution anytime soon. Ive heard the rumor of the voicetracking too, sad, just sad.
 
I think Monti and Brook are great--a breath of fresh air. Although I do miss Monti in the afternoons--Mason is AWFUL. Monti should do mornings and afternoons!! :) I'm sure she'll be out of there soon enough.

Mamma is a Sandusky competitor who pretends he loves Movin, deliberately sounds like a loon, then sits back n enjoys the replies that tear down the station and "her".

I have been hoping that is the case because even though it's radio...it would scare me if there was a person THAT far gone walking among us!! So hard to tell who are the whack-whack wanna be's and the real whack-whack's any more!

The purpose of a board like this is to protect identities of users. This allows for more open conversation and tends to be more interesting. Many fear management retribution. I find several of the posters on this board sound "like loons," yet their posts do spur on interesting threads. I am, however, tiring of the non-stop threads on KQMV. Is the station really worth all this conversation, the format has pretty much vanished nationally, if it ever got started.

I appreciate the well-thought out posts and I also appreciate the humor of some, who bait others on this board. It is all part of the conversation about radio. Would love to see some posts on successful stations in this market like KMPS, KIRO, KRWM, KWJZ, KZOK (a couple recently), KISW, KCMS, KPLZ, KUBE and KJR-AM. These stations are strong in their demos year after year, four book after four book. More interesting is that each have been in their current format for over 15 years and in most cases the airstaffs are veteran and fairly successful. Until this year I would have put KMTT in the grouping, but the change in programmers and morning show have changed a successful station. It remains to be seen if they will succeed in the future, I suspect they will do just fine after a down couple of books.
 
(YAWN!) Is it just me or has anyone noticed that KWJZ is no longer using "jazz" in their moniker...

About time! No true (even "smooth") jazz station can be THIS saxophone CRAZED. Even KKSF knows when to lay off on the saxophone tracks.....
