Good old 94.7

I suppose Jack-FM in LA has live board ops, at least in the daytime, even though it has no DJs.
If there's a board op at Jack FM, their responsibility should start and end with having some music on standby in case the computer catches fire. Automation is way better at seguing songs than a board op could ever be.

Run of the mill segues, yes. But "mixing" is not something a computer can really be trained to do. Even between the top mixers...the ones that make millions a year... they will mix the same songs differently.

Actually mixing is something a computer CAN do. A lot of today's records are mixed using a form of automation. If you spend time in recording studios, you get used to watching faders going up and down as part of the pre-programmed automation. The consoles have become way too big and the mixes have become too complicated for a human to do. Program it into ProTools and watch it work for you.

If you're talking about the MCs and the Grand Masters, yes, they like the human touch. But some of what they do is pre-programmed.

However, since we're talking about Jack in LA, mixing isn't really necessary, although the automation can be programed to mix or overlap elements if required.
