Good radio

Actually, as long as he's talking about the tiny non-profits, college stations, or rare mom and pop commercial stations like WDIY, WLVR, WMUH, WGPA, and Kutztown University Radio, then he's right. Indeed good radio in the Lehigh Valley. We have some of the best non-profits or small stations around. But if he's talking about FM commercial radio in the LV, I have no idea what rose-colored glasses he has on.
 
Lehigh Valley is probably one of the biggest example of corporate, homogenized, white bread and cottage cheese radio in the country. There's not a station here that I could listen to for any length of time. It wasn't always this way, just since the mega corps took over.
 
it was better in the 60's and 70's.the 80's too.would liike to have the BIG X come back to FM.
the lehigh valley needs a greatest hits station of our own!
 
How about "The Power of the Pyramid" on ZZO. ZZO was very interesting in the late 70's and early 80's. I still remember hearing 'Fools Overture" from Supertramp in 1978 (Supertramp was always big there...I think they rented the Stabler Arena to set up a tour). Had to use that song as the first song when 97.9 in Hazleton flipped from Soft AC to Rock back in 1994!

B104 is a joke. Why would a CHR play an 80s hit like Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield next to a current hit like Flo-Rida? I thought it was Current Hit Radio (CHR) not 1989 hit radio! They're horrendous. ZZO is a sad excuse for a rock station! Pick a slogan! 95 ZZO, ZZO, 95.1 WZZO come on? Y-102 is horrible it's worse than B104 and ZZO! Gavin DeGraw next to Aerosmith and AC/DC? Are you kidding me? A Rock station? Haha ;D LEV is horrible with tanking ratings they can't keep afloat. ODE is alright I guess. still. LV Radio is horrendous. It's a wasteland of garbage stations. Nothings good. I wish they put Yankee Games on ODE or ZZO or something. 107.1's signal doesnt go into Kutztown at all.

I agree that ZZO sounds awful these days. It really started going downhill a few years ago, it seems. They've lost their way...and when YOU don't know what you are as a radio station, how do you expect an AUDIENCE to latch on to you?! It's amazing how they don't get that. Everything they do is just poorly executed: music mix, imaging, lack of budget, promotions, managing their heritage/archives - everything. And they used to have jocks that were entertaining and whom you cared about. It sounds like there is no direction over there. There's certainly no monetary investment in it anymore. It's sad to hear it slide. The thing is that it happens GRADUALLY as the management and the listeners get used to lowered expectations without even realizing it. It's a slippery slope and it's the job of GMs and PDs to a.) be aware of that pitfall and notice when its happening and b.) turn it around.
 
Y102 is horrible! Gavin DeGraw IS NOT ROCK! He's Pop! The Fray isn't rock! It's pop! AC/DC is rock yes, but putting them all together into one station its like a trainwreck! Either Hot A/C or rock! Even ZZO sounds better than you do! That's not saying much. B104 is horrible! They lean too adult! They have 80s weekends? On A CHR? and Get rid of Seacrest & DML. Put some local stuff on or just model yourselves after Z100 or Kiss 108.
