Doubled numbers (at MMR's expense no doubt), they will continue to climb, sorry bout that rock haters, (although I do not care for the Rehab song they are spinin). As I said before, I don't know how OGL does it, but I would bet if a Standards format were on FM or AM they would explode, but no one wants to chance it. The same audiance (40 to death which category I am in), that listens to OGL would listen to the Standards outlet, so why does CBS allow OGL to exist but no one wants to try Standards.

OK RWS, we get it! You LIKE ROCK MUSIC!

he'll never stop - he's got to have his own thread on every topic involving WRFF, WYSP, or WMMR, no matter how many other existing topics there are.

This could have gone in the WRFF Thoughts thread AND in the Philly PPM thread, but of course he's got to spam up this board with all his livejournal thoughts.

WRFF is a problem for WYSP, too. They took quite a cume hit since WRFF hit the air; they lost almost 100,000 listeners from 535,000 only a month ago. WRFF wants guys in their 20s and 30s and WYSP needs them desperately. WMMR, on the other hand, has a much broader audience.

"Doubled numbers" isn't nothing to write home about, yet. When you go from a failure to a massive hole in the market, the numbers better go way up!

i am a rock fan ...but Rehab is the song of the summer...this years Gnarls Barkley ...not everthing needs a guitar and a whiny male singer or screamer to be good

RWS...the problem with your assessment is that standards attracts a 65+ audience. You may call " 40 to death " a demo, but targeting 40 to 55 is half of the 30 year money demo, 25-54, which accounts for 75% of the dollars spent in electronic media in Philly. The top 10 stations 25-54 are probably the top 10 billers . They follow the money. There's no money left in standards. Lots of great songs, just no money. That's why there's no Standards stations left.

They should come up with a catchy name and logo. Radio 1045 does not cut it and they will loose some rating points, its hard to remember 1045 and associate it with Alternative. They have to get a real name soon, why are they using such a general reminder radio 1045.

Because in the new Philadelphia radio world with the PPM... the name doesn't matter. As long as they're tuned into the station, it'll get tabulated in the PPM.

That's exactly it right there. Nothing more to remember and write down.

Besides that - Doesn't RADIO 104.5 really kind of sum it up simply and directly? How hard is that to remember?

"There's a radio station at 104 point 5." And you turn that frequency on ... and they're playing alternative music.

If you're interested in alternative music, you leave it on there. You know what it is, and where to find it again: 104.5. On the Radio.

In the immortal words of a former program director that I have carried with me for over 10 years: "Don't make 'em think. They don't want to."

Radio 104.5 as it's name seems to convey an "alternative" way of thinking. It's simple and somewhat counter culture.....so why not? Maybe they can pick up the name "Free 104.5" when YSP get's blown out. Though really, "Free" could work as a name for this station...somewhat along the lines of "Radio Free America"....lol. Now they just need a good, "unknown" morning show to make it even more anti establishment. How about "Matt and Huggy"?
