Good Skywave Tonight!

The FIM-41 is showing most of the 50 kW Class As within 600 miles (DA on WBZ, WMVP, WCKY, and WLAC) or so peaking at around 2-3 mV/m tonight. WWV on 5 MHz (10 kW) was peaking around 0.6 mV/m. CHU 3330 kHz (3 kW) was peaking around 0.3 mV/m and WWV 2.5 MHz (2.5 kW) was peaking around 60 uV/m tonight.

What do you usually hear on 830 in Northern California?
Usually, KNCO booms into the Bay Area pretty good at night. Underneath it (or when it fades out a bit), KLAA out of Los Angeles takes over. I'm accually dealing with two stations, that just wont let anything in. I've sat on 830 for a while, and these two are ones that dominate.

Do you get any other stations from the midwest?
Oh yes, I get ( gotten ) a few heavy hitters. Some are frequent fliers around here, while others just make a flyover every so often.

WHO 1040
KFAB 1110
KOA 850
WGN 720
KRVN 880
WBAB 820
WWL 870
WOAI 1200
KSTP 1500

Still hoping ( trying for )
WLS 890
KMOX 1120

I haven't heard WLS in years, but I've logged them a couple of times. They are very rare compared to the other three Chicago stations. The one that has never been heard is WMVP. I know I have KOMO about 100 miles W of me, but even on great eastern nights I never hear even a trace of WMVP. I have heard XEOY Mexico City more than once, however!

WLS used to be the easiest to hear out west. Now 890 has been loaded up with many stations. WMVP sends their signal east at night to protect KOMO, but you never know on those good DX nights.
