So, for a stunt format - how about Alternative or CHR? Take some away from CC that are younger, and don't use AM - then advertise the station to AM users so they switch too?
Doubt they will do it, but I like that.Nick said:Or how about songs with an end-of-the-world theme, considering that it's replacing Family Radio. Songs like Britney Spears - Till The World Ends, REM - The End of the World, Blondie - Rapture
I wonder if Merlin will spend more on advertising than Family Radio did in the Philly market last year.

Spend more then family radio? Hmmm how much money did Family radio spend for those card board paper with marker written messages to tune to 106.9 that I would see stapled to light posts?

Enough to be so much in debt that they had to sell 106.9
I honestly think we'll have "106.9 FM New" as a stunt for a few weeks. Only radio geeks would notice that it's the same stunt that happened in NY and Chicago.

Which was? Hopefully not stunting a talk type for a talk format... Average listeners can't distinguish the two.

Flattering premise - but I double CBS would allow a likely competitor to license their own news library if the goal is to trash them...

Musically, hot AC with women's voices inserted between songs talking about shoes and chocolate. Sabo's gone, so I don't expect the shoes and chocolate part. In Chicago, they brought back Robert Murphy (who was "Murphy in the Morning" on that frequency in the 80s NBC hot AC incarnation of Q101) to do morning drive--and when the stunt was over, he stayed in Chicago and is doing mornings at rhythmic AC Rewind 100.3. Newscasts were slowly inserted into the format over the month or so of the transition.
But as I said, the mastermind behind the original stunt is gone and there's no WKDN audience to piss off except the 80-year-old followers of Brother Harold, which is not like pissing off the easily-pissed-off modern rock demo of Q101 and RXP. I wouldn't bet on 106.7 New.
They can’t avoid it. Their audience won’t come entirely from WIOQ and WISX – they’ll have to pull listeners from KYW and will no doubt use some type of comparative ad to distinguish themselves. Not only that, It's not wise to point out the heritage of the number one rated station in the market, when you're a fledgling sign on. KDN (or whatever they will be) will create their own brand.
In NY, Merlin features more lifestlye/ celeb/ health stories than the heritage all-newsers. The intent is to siphon off some of the 25-54 female audience. Assuming they will try the same here.RadioPhillyFan said:Why would the audience come from WIOQ and WISX in particular?
