Good Time Oldies 1170 AM / 104.9 FM

WACV has finally shed its news/talk completely over to 107.9 FM (WMRK) and is now (once again, as they did for a short time a while back) broadcasting 50s and 60s Oldies, and is simulcasting in stereo on 104.9 FM - the translator in Montgomery which seems to change hands and/or formats weekly. Maybe this will be permanent. Will certainly assist the fading WACV nighttime signal. Good luck Bluewater - should certainly garner more ratings on the combination than WACV AM did after the WMRK simulcast began

At least they're not playing 60-80's hits like Q96.1 does. I enjoy Q96.1, but it would be pointless for Bluewater to have two oldies stations playing the same genre of oldies.

Might WACV be using Citadel Media's "True Oldies" service?

About time somebody played some of that late 50s/early 60s stuff.

Now what they need is Joe Hagler and some of those other disc jockeys who were around Montgomery back in the day to come out of retirement to do a show.

true oldies is tripe?

that is a harsh word--

do you have a problem with scott shannon personally sflaboy...?

inquiring minds wanna know ....

No, I have no problem with Scott personally, but true oldies is a syndicated service designed to run cheap and dirty. Can't be compared to local origination. BTW, in case any of you were wondering, the decision to go Oldies was defensive in nature and is not temporary. Designed to protect Q96.1 upper demo from attack.

Chubby Checker Lives! It's Pony Time Get Up!!!!!

i herd some spinners " could it be i'm falling in love"-one of my all time faves-- they are playing alot of them--

FULL DISCLOSURE-- I AM DOING MORNINGS-- SO I AM BIASED--

What I'd like to see is a big band/crooner program again on WACV like George Landry used to do but I'm not sure it would bring in the advertisers. Heck I'd enjoy doing it myself on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon if WACV would consider me for the position. Not out to make a lot of money...just radio is a hobby and something I really do enjoy!! I even have my own music collection to play from with those types of tunes.

I guess that was that green fog in the WACV studios when I used to invite him on. Who requested Landry? Maybe George the DJ?

As for Chuck Berry -- hail, hail, rock and roll. And happy Thanksgiving to the Skipper!

I LIKE "WAKING UP WITH THE OLDIES WITH JOHN GARRETT":)

I PREDICT BIG THINGS FROM WACV-- ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU COMBINE IT WITH WQKS-- THAT WILL COVER NON COUNTRY/NON URBAN ADULTS 25-54 AND 35-64 WHICH IS NOT BEING SERVED IN THE MARKET-
