Good Time to be a freelance weather personality

Looks like it is good work being a freelance weather personality here in Phoenix. Randy Collins has been filling in at ABC15 (Rich Dahlquist has been off after the death of his father last month). KPHO, even with a staff of four, still had to call in Steve Garry to cover tonight's broadcast.

Is it Globe, Payson or Flagstaff?

Caught Randy Kollins who is filling in at ABC15. A few nights ago he showed a camera shot from the ABC15 studio (44th St. and Van Buren) looking towards Camelback Mountain. On that day, he said the clouds you could see were the storms that had formed over Globe. The next night same shot and now the clouds were over the Superstition Mountains and up towards Payson. Finally, tonight he claimed the clouds behind Camelback Mountain were from the thunderstorms in Flagstaff.

Really! What a magical camera to show all three locations.
(In reality, the Payson answer was the most correct.)

In spite of that, Kollins is much improved. It used to be that every 3rd word out of his mouth was "um". I'm sure it just goes with being new, but I guess I'm just suffering from having it drilled into my head by several English teachers in school that "uh" and "um" should never be uttered while speaking in public.

Speaking of freelance weather opportunities, what's going to happen over on 3TV when April is out? Are they going to have Kaley do double-duty two days per week (so Brittney can have a couple of days off every week) or are they go to bring in someone else to help out with weather? The last time this happened, Kaley wasn't the main GMAZ female co-anchor -- she was the secondary anchor. So, I wonder if Kaley would be asked to do double-duty at this point.

Was Kaley at 3TV when April had her son? I can't remember, but didn't between Royal and Brittany, they covered all shifts?

Yes, Kaley was there, but she wasn't the "main" GMAZ anchor. Tara was still there at the time. Kaley definitely helped out with weather during April's previous maternity leave. Usually, she was co-anchoring and doing the weather.

I was just wondering if they were going to hire a freelance person to come in one or two days a week to help out this time (since Kaley is the main GMAZ anchor now).

Paging Mr. Ed...
