Good tropo conditions continue .... Another good catch

The furthest I ever heard so far is Sumter SC 88.1 FM I think from my place in Danville VA. I been dxing for less than a year.

South Carolina to Cuba TV DX path noted a couple of nights ago - ch 2, 4 and 6 Cuba.

This has been one of the most consistent long lasting tropo events I've seen here in a long time.

Of course, the tropo goes away late morning and doesn't get going again until late evening but that's how it usually is with only a couple exceptions I've seen.

It was so much better with analog TV, though.

I remember during these events, the local stations would have lines or bars running across the screen and they would somethimes run a message across the bottom of the screen saying "Atmospheric conditions beyond our control are causing interference with your picture."

The good old days.

I guess that was one of the reasons they decided to switch to digital but for DXers, there was nothing like analog.

Is this a tropo

I been getting

98.1 Kiss-FM from West Sac Good Signal once in a while as well as 997 Now, Fringe, But good

Some nights I hear Kiss-FM without my antanna fully extened

Well, not the same kind of tropo that we had here last week which is tropo ducting.

What you are getting is tropo enhancement which means you are hearing stations that could be heard 24/7 with a good enough antenna but the local weather conditions sometimes bring them in on a regular radio with a standard antenna.

Saturday night I got some stations from the Outer Banks of NC in the Charleston area. 97.1 was coming in at nearly 300 miles, and a few other signals like 96.3 and 107.9 were coming in.
