good weekend on 1045 with covers

Have to give promotions a thumbs up for trying this over the Halloween weekend, I just e-mailed them to add Adam Ant and they just played him, they do listen. Today hearing Johnny Cash doing Hurt into the Ramones just blew my mind....gotta give 1045 credit for just being out there. They will be the clear cut winner in the rock wars, although hearing music on YSP sounded good without all the useless chatter today.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town this weekend. This would have been interesting to hear. I will look forward to RWS recap on monday though. :D

I just looked up an example for fanboy in the dictionary and came across your name. Geez. Give it up. Radio 1045 is NOT the savior of radio, in fact it still needs a decent amount of tweaking, especially with the amount of Good Charlotte I hear. ha.

FYI.. I was a big fan of WYSP, they were my only choice from the beginning of their Active days with DeBella, Cerf and Toxic, then they went downhill a few years back. They were the best Active Rocker on the planet, and sold out to the Philly audiance, that is why I detested them. I must say, I was not impressed with the cover weekend, it sucked; IMHO, the only good tune was the cover of the Twister Sister, I wanna rock cut. 1045 is going downhill fast, with this revamped playlist, far too much Rage against White American History, to the U-liberal-2 annoying whining, being spun on a two hour rotation. How can you play Barenakedladies and that moron Matthews and ignore a good band like Creed. They also play a few token cuts, like the Pistols or Adam Ant, maybe once every two weeks. If they keep this up its back to YSP like many other fed up listeners. I guess they will start playing that other liberal, political, big-mouth, Serj soon enough.

One more addition to the thread, YSP is just a shell of their former self, the same Floyd, Petty, Zep, STP, and a few well tested newer cuts, not like in the 90's when they Rocked. Why they won't open up the playlist and add all the new Rock and older metal that they were famous for is kinda strange.

This is one of the funniest things I have seen posted on a message board in quite a while.

Agreed a million times over. "A good band like Creed"? C'mon, RWS, if that's what you want to hear, maybe Ben FM is more your speed. Creed were a horrible, horrible band - safe, innocuous, white bread Bible Belt "rock" music for soccer moms. Take the most boring side of the multi-dimensional Pearl Jam (songs like "Daughter", "Better Man", and their ilk) and dilute it even further and you've got the Creed sound. "With Arms Wide Open" might very well be the sappiest song of the last 10 years, followed closely by Nickelback's "Far Away". Come to think of it, Creed were the Nickelback of their era.

I'm not crazy about BNL or DMB and would rather hear more '70s punk, '80s new wave and '90s indie rock and British rock on the station, but I'm glad to see that Radio 104.5 had the good sense to drop some of the generic wuss rock acts from their playlist (alas, they still play 3 Doors Down and Lifehouse - we could do without them as well). And say what you will about their politics, but "liberal big-mouths" like Serj Tankian and Rage Against The Machine have more creativity in their pinkies than those lunkheads in Creed had in their entire bodies.

Absolutely agree 100% on this. Disliking a band because of their political stance is a cowardly way to disrespect the talents of the band. RATM was one of the breakout bands of the 90's because of their talent and their style, most of the kids I graduated High School with in 1995 could've cared less about their politics.

Is there ANYBODY who still thinks WMMR is the best Rocker on the planet?

or at least in the area???

...Other than myself...

If it were up to analyzing the political views of musicians, I would have burned my CD's and Ipod years ago. RWS, you are waaaaaaayy off base here. Most of Hollywood is liberal, so you must not watch too many movies then? Or, watch too much network TV? Who cares what their beliefs are? JUST ENTERTAIN ME!!!!!

I will give you this, tho'... I enjoyed the Covers weekend on 104.5 as well.
