Goodbye Coast

Gotta wonder if Matt Siegel is a temporary thing. He's not on the Coast website. It seemed to happen very fast and when you're dealing with a building with very few people left to fill in quickly, what else can you do but call on resources at another CC station? The whole chain of events at that station over the last couple of years is just such a fiasco.

At this point, why even bother to keep fiddling and diddling with the music format with a station that's had an identity crisis for so long......it would need a team of psychiatrists to straighten it out...LOL.

Seriously......Holland has had the right idea all along. Just flip the switch and start the talk simulcast with 920, and be done with it already!

i was sampling coast and b101 this weekend and yesterday i heard a female voice during the day whom i dont reconize and didnt sound local at all...... very generic worse than any voice tracking that i have heard in a long time.... and i dont know who was on after like 8 last night it was a male also didnt reconize........ what a shame

I have to agree with Holland. Make 93.3 WHJJ-FM, and be done with it!This will force Citadel to do something , though I don't see talk on 92.3 any time soon.

No, if Citadel does does anything, it'll be tgo get rid of Hot 106.3, and add it to the list of frequencies broadcasting talk. I believe, they've cover everything if they do that.

Pro-Fm shouldn't make a move. It's one of the few stations that does well. Don't ruin history by tinkering with it. HJY is another station that should not be touched.

It's not COAST..It's COST as in LOW cost!

Another Clear Channel joint.

I have to laugh at some of the quotes in the press releases to the trades. It's radio. It's read by people in radio. Do they really think anyone believes what they say? The latest on Matty is he's a legend who will have people from Woonsocket to Newport laughing all the way to work. First of all he's a legend in Boston and anyone who used to listen to Coast mornings may have already ditched the station since they ran jockless after letting Lemire go. If anything they should have kept him on until they were ready to roll with a new show. Second of all if you listen to Gio and Kim or Jones and Heather, you like'em and you're not going to switch. I doubt they want to pull any of B101's listeners away and Cat Country is a different ball game. In fact, if any of Lemire's loyal fans switched to Coast from Cat Country when he went there, they've already switched back. But then of course they can't quote to the trades: we didn't want to hire anyone.

How could anyone actually choose to listen to the PRO FM morning show when Matty is an available option?

I have to agree. Seems like an easy choice for me. But sometimes people just get comfortable with a show and can't leave it. It's like that husband and wife who always seem to argue. Neither one can quite explain why they've stuck with each other for a long time. They would probably be happier with other people. But they get comfortable with each other and that's good enough for them.

I think the same thing goes for both radio and television. Sometimes a show will seem to suck. Nobody liked Conan the first year. Even NBC was about to fire him. Then people got used to him and accepted him. I think that probably explains the Pro-FM audience. I've tuned in during the morning on occasion. I've never heard anything all that funny. I can't even figure out what people think is funny about that show. I would love for someone to respond and tell me though. Maybe I've missed something. However I've actually laughed out loud many times while listening to Matty. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I'd like to see CC have Matty coach the Oxford St. Morning Shows. I was listening to HJY this week and could not believe how canned the "Top 5 Reasons" sounded. They clearly gathered everyone in the studio for canned laughs in an attempt to "roll tape" for the Saturday "Best of" show. Steve Mac clearly forced himself to laugh.

C'mon boys, you should be better than that.....

I've heard some morning Zoo type of shows before who exaggerate laughter so much that they should be totally embarassed at how pathetic they sound. Nothing worse than unfunny jokes followed by a studio of cackling idiots over reacting like it's the funniest thing they've ever heard. They seem to think that all that fake laughter is somehow making their unfunny jokes FUNNY! But it's not!!! Nothing good about a radio show that's not genuine. The second I hear fake laughter is the moment I turn the dial.

Nothing against the HJY Morning Crew. But when your voice tracking you just want to get it done. Sucks that the laughter has to
sound forced. What sucks even more at CC. After morning drive. All the "On-Air" FM Studios more than likely get used for production.

My opinion. Forced laughter equals a bad radio show. Here is an idea radio people. How about saying something that is actually funny!
