Goodbye, FOX Reality Channel

That's odd. I just saw an ad this week for a new series on there starting Oct. 24. I don't recall the name of it but it has to do with following firefighters through their training.

And good riddance!! Let's hope that they can do something better with the open slot that it's termination leaves. Guess we'll see on March 31.

I agree. A complete waste of bandwidth, along with a good 75% of the other cable channels these days.

Since Fox already has a crapload of sports channels (the regional Fox Sports Networks, Fox Soccer Channel, Fuel, Speed Channel, etc) would one more specialty sports channel be all that suprising? I imagine Fox Reality Channel has digital cable clearance in most of the country, so it wouldn't be a waste of bandwidth if it was a niche sports channel.

A competitor to BBC America, what with Fox's ties to SKY and ITV?

Here in Canada the channel was never offered as an option.
By the sounds of things, it looks like there's not much to be missed, and the Cable and Sattelite providers here were smart! (-;

From the Associated Press:

Fox Reality Channel to make way for new venture

Fox Reality Channel was profitable but the company said it has made a "strategic decision" to shift resources to new channels.

I'm glad it's shutting down but if it was profitable, why the change?

I can see FOX "shifting" the transponder space which had been Fox Reality to Roger Ailes' team, where they can create yet another Fox News spinoff, maybe call it "Fox Talks" with all the radio and TV personalities they've been snatching from other channels. Ailes unsuccessfully tried this before at NBC with America's Talking, but Fox News has the brand recognition to make it work this time.

The only good thing on there was REAL STORIES OF THE HIGHWAY PATROL (THE ORIGINAL VERSION) The newer one (with that other guy) sucked and i dont watch them!!
