Goodbye NHK Radio 2

Due to restructuring at the NHK network in Japan, the second network has ceased operations as of March 30. I was very blessed to have picked them up many times in the early morning hours here in eastern Washington with their often-very strong signals on 774, 747, 693, and 828 khz. The English lessons and arts programming will be missed by those in Japan and us DXers across the pond...

NHK Radio 2 had been on the air since 1931.

Hmm. That sounds like another network I heard about.

NHK Radio 2 was on the air from 1931 to 2026. CBS Radio was on the air from 1927 until a few weeks from now.

Report from Masset BC (Queen Charlotte Islands) from Walter Salmaniw (who has a KiwiSDR and several beverages) says that the Philippines is dominant on 774 khz now that JOUB-AM has ceased operations. I don't know if they have the oomph to make it inland into eastern WA, but who knows? The Philippines would be a new country here. There's also a Manila station on 1314 khz (DWXI) that often makes it into BC and the WA/OR coast when sunrise conditions are good.
