Goodbye, WTIX

Surprised no one has mentioned this...WTIX 690 changed call letters to WIST last week. Kind of strange to no longer see the WTIX calls attached to that facility...Are they planning to change formats when they return?

Seems like an odd time to abandon the heritage calls...even though it was no ratings powerhouse, the calls have some legacy. With the city trying to get back on its feet, you would think institutions that have a lot of heritage would really cling to it and build on it.

I agree. Those mega-corporations don't give a damn about a stations heritage. They're obsessed with hiring "con"sultants, firing every "live" jock, cut it to the bare bone, sell it, and move on. It's sad and unfortunate, but true.

Um, WTIX (I means, WIST) isn't owned by a mega-corp. Unless George H. Buck is a mega-corp.

I also noticed that the calls are currently also being used by one of Buck's FM's in the NC Triad. I believe it does classic country right now.

I guess that 690 will be the "Information Station" come December 1?

They should've changed the calls years ago.
