Google Ads for Florida Radio

You ever notice those Google ads?

I clicked on one on Kevin's blog that says "Florida -
Talk Radio Looking for Talk Radio in Florida? Find it here!
"
It's takes you to Local.com, and it is so full of wrong info that
it's funny.

  • It lists WLRN, the Dade school board's station, as in Broward, but at a Fort Lauderdale location that sounds like it might be their actual Miami address.
  • It lists Cox's WTMI, which has been gone almost five years now.
  • It lists Miami Beach's WMBM at "13242 Nw Seventh Ave N - Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301". If you're familiar with Broward, you know that that is an impossible address... way off.
  • And it also lists the now-defunct Cox's WPYM.
There are others, but these are the funniest.

I suspect that it is just generating these spurious addresses on
the fly.

Of course, if you click on a google ad on Kevin's site, he doesn't get
credit, because it's a freewebs site. But if you ever click on a google
ad on my site, I do get a few pennies.

The World Wide Web is the best source available to mankind today for news, views, and information. It's also a cesspool of misleading, inaccurate, and downright incorrect information. I stumble on to it all the time. I'm amazed at how many web pages I discover that haven't been updated at all for many years - even going back to the late-1990s. Then again even though a web page is current / up-to-date that doesn't mean that it's accurate. Your popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google, and Ask often cast a light on the best of the web and mix it all up with the worst of the web.

I don't know how we lived without it too!

Then again, I can't imagine how we lived without caller ID.

The past ten years have been a time of technological advance for everyday life (for me at least). I got my first computer in 1994 I think.

CALLER-I.D. = One of the greatest innovations of the 1990s. Thank You BellSouth !

The past ten years have been a time of technological advance for everyday life (for me at least). I got my first computer in 1994 I think.

I got my very first P.C. back during the Autumn Of 1992 in November. Hurricane Andrew actually bought it for me. The Air Force paid me a lot of money for my time, trouble, and moving expenses due to the destruction of our base here in Homestead back then, and I used a bit of that money for my very first P.C. - a state-of-the-art 486SX-25. Hey it was either that or a 386DX-40, but 386s were on their way out in 1992 and I wanted the latest and greatest system at the time. I used that very first system for a good 5 years until it blew up on me.

That very first P.C. got me interested in the whole 'message posting' concept. In 1993 I created my own dial-up bulletin board (much like this one) where me and a bunch of buddies in the Melbourne Florida area posted back-and-forth about music, radio, television, news, politics, sports, weather, etc. That board lasted for about 4 years, and my web site of today that was created in 1995 was a spin-off of that original BBS !

Back on my original board I started off as 'Captain Airwaves', but after about a year my buddies promoted me to 'Major Airwaves'. 'Major Airwaves' became 'Major Hitwaves' on my web site when it was created, and that eventually evolved into simply 'The Major'.

Have I told this story before on here ? If so then it's all good. It's Labour Day Weekend, so it's a 'Best-Of' Weekend !

I don't think you told us your story. Very interesting though!

Although cell phones have been around for quite a while, I remember how big and clunky they were in the 1990s. Even when I got my first phone in the late 90s, they were pretty "clunky".

Even television from the 1990s seems dated now. I keep saying to myself, "can the picture get any clearer?".
