Google Radio Automation

Anyone running Google Radio Automation, their latest? I've heard good things about it's new bells and whistles. Just curious.

All I know is that my college station spent over $25,000 for Google automation more than TWO years ago, and all we have to show for it is a touch screen in the studio that's collecting dust. It's supposed to be ready by fall.

I've been shopping systems for a station I work with and I won't even look at buying a Google Automation system until we know who the new owner will be.

And if it's one of the companies who I hear who are likely to buy the group (and no, it's not Dave Scott) I don't hold out a lot of hope for the future of the product.

Nexgen has never sounded better. Looks like they did the trick(can you say PUT TOGETHER) on Nick.Feel sorry for all those that hopped on the free software COME ON awhile back.If Dave does not make a offer the product is doomed..Sgeirk, those bells you heard ringing were the last call bells.. as always IMHO

Point taken!

We already decided not to commit until we find out who buys what's left of dMarc and who's left after the sale. GRA looks impressive.

Version 5 and 6 of SS32 won me over. It has it's faults and lacks a couple features I'd like to see...but we've been very happy with it, overall.

Push comes to shove, we'll get NexGen...but I've found that SS32 5 & 6 is, relatively speaking, seemingly easier to maintain. Thanks for the input.

NexGen? Really? Why would you give your hard earned money to Clear Channel, their corporate owner? Worst company that ever happened to this business, and you'd reward them by giving them you business? And honestly, Cumulus and BSI/Op-X isn't much different. Don't patronize evil companies, especially when there are better choices out there.

Sounds like there may be more to that comment than automation systems.

Touching on SS32 some more, though...we had serious trouble getting through to technical support recently. They have an online support form to fill out so that someone can call you, and I think it's safe to say they're not really monitoring that anymore. When we finally got a technician after calling their head office, he was helpful, but it was obvious from the barking dog in the background of our phone call that he was working out of his home. He also had to call us back so that he could ask a fellow technician how to handle our particular software problem. In their defense, they did get the problem worked out in about an hour or so. The Google/SS32 situation just seems awfully risky at the moment. Not saying that someone great won't pick it up and continue the tradition. I sincerely hope it works out that way.

Apparently Dave Scott and Enco will be picking up service on the D/Marc~Google systems; and may be preparing to sell an updated version.

Assume they would want some $ for service help, but if you've already got the system...

Not quite. Those guys are not authorized to provide service, don't have up-to-date software, customer history or diagnostic tools. If they have picked up any former Scott technicians, they're knowledge of the system isn't current either. Also, only Google can provide updates. All Scott-Enco can do is try to sell you an Enco system. Dave Scott has never seen a Google Radio Automation system. His involvement with automation stopped when he sold it to dMarc.

Google is done. Out of business. You should have received the memo. ;D
