Goom Radio Omnia.ONE

That's very far from "amazing", in my book. Low bitrate coding with apparent artifacts and way too much pumping in the processor to be able to hear anything else... Or put up with it, for that matter.

Goran Tomas

But this is what the ONE does when you try to get it to flow... it pumps too much... almost as if all the bands are running amok without each knowing what the other is doing.

And the bass is totally detached from the mix. It's almost as if he is using an FM preset with the FM mode selected.

I'm not saying that there isn't SOME inter-band information being shared, I'm just saying its not enough to be effective.

...and I can tell you that this is exactly the effect the GOOM radio people wanted in their audio. It may not be what you or I would go for, but it is what they wanted....

Now here is a link for 92-3 NOW, using an Orban 1100PC, which I've gotten many compliments about.

I like how this sounds processing wise, it complements the format. However, I must reiterate FMister's remark - why is it so heavily bit reduced? It's all drowning in compression artifacts. Do they believe they will attract and actually keep somebody for any significant TSL with this sort of audio quality?

I have no control over bitrate. That is determined upstream (it leaves us at 128kbps before its redistributed for all different paths at 32, 48 etc depending on connection speed and apps like AOL Radio)

I don't know about you guys but I think it sounds perfect, listen to the deep lows, the crossover is just right. I gotta get my hands on these settings.

This is also mine, 1100PC and Compellor

And this

Ariane (original) and Banshee IV set very light.

First impressions on the 923now.com was that it's a bit OTT for a web feed but then it grew on me, especially the bass and the snare drum thud, I like it. The only thing I didn't like after listening to a few track was that the top end is coming through a bit harsh, listened to it through many speakers, Yamaha NS10's, Mackie HR824's, Celestion A3's & Sennheiser HD25 cans.

But hey, this is just "my" opinion, if people like it the its all good!

It's the encoding... Not only is it a low bit-rate streaming, but apparently the distribution has also been lossy encoded.
