Gorden west?

A friend of mine from my radio days called me today and told me Gorden West had died. Has anyone heard anything? He said WYNK was playing KC and the sunshine band this afternoon as a tribute.

I am sorry to say that the news IS true, long, long time Baton Rouge radio personality Gordon West passed away on Saturday, apparently of natural causes. Funeral results are pending at a Port Allen, LA funeral home. I am sure that it will be published in The Advocate, but there is no mention of it in Tuesday's edition.

I am really sorry to hear that. he had one of the best shows on the radio here. I still listened on saturday nights. I still have all those airchecks from years past.

I worked with GW 30 years ago at WYNK but have not seen him in years. Would appreciate sharing any info on arrangements.
Thanks.

Re: Gorden West?

I want to recall crossing paths with a very nice GW some [number redacted in order to not blow out server] years ago at I-13/WIBR. His real name was... arghh, can't recall. Something Gordon?

Scrolled through the Advocate obits -- God bless BR for still being small enough where you can do that -- and couldn't find anything. Maybe one of us could call Scott Innes at WYNK and ask? Hmmm, who else is still around from that time? Paging Scotty Drake...
