Gorillaz

I dig their stuff! Feel Good Inc. is great! Unfortunately they come across more like a novelty band and have a short shelf life. Remember Len? If you steal my sunshine... That song did last a decent time but when it was done, it was DONE. I keep wanting to "show" my wife this song and don't have my own copy yet, but we never catch it on the radio. My thought is that it would qualify for AAA,CHR,Hot/Mod AC,Altern, etc... and would get spins on many stations.

Perhaps I missed the gravy train on this cut, but it is a good tune!

My take would be it's too Urban in sound for most of the nations AAA stations? As for Hot AC, any of them playing the likes of Black Eyed Peas might be interested, but those avoiding the more Urban sounding stuff will definitely stay away. It's more CHR and Alternative in sound, being a kind of 'darker Pop' if you like.

Here in the UK Feel Good Inc. was popular on student radio, Radio 1 and male-leaning CHR. They've had a few hits that seemed more mainstream radio friendly in the past, one I particularly remember was 19/2000 (I think!) and the other was called Clint Eastwood, back in maybe 2001? You may not know that the band is also the project of Blur front man Damon Allbarn, but they only 'exist' as animated characters. It's very bizarre!!
______________

There is a version of Feel Good Inc with the rap part cut out. WKSC Chicago (CHR) plays this version. Hot AC stations are probably playing this version.

First heard Clint Eastwood in early 2001. It got stuck in my head so I decided to look into it more. Was big on Alternative and CHR in the fall of 2001. 19-2000 went into late 2001-early 2002.

There was a remix of 19-2000 (Soulchild Mix) that some stations were playing. It was also in a breath freshener or gum commercial later in the year. I was released on the CD "G-Sides" in February.

I have all of their CDs and the music is supergroup style but the whole albums are great which is rare.
______________

PLEASE don't compare these guys to Len. They are far more creative and unique, and don't use any friggin' disco samples in their songs. I would definitely recommend checking it out - but with the overall dark vibe and hip-hop influence of the Demon Days album, don't expect to hear it on AAA or Hot AC.

My apologies, I did not intend to compare the bands in this thread. My comparison was strictly on a length of life on the charts.

I'm really digging the Gorrilaz.

Thanks.
