Got some Es today on Global Tuners remote nodes 5/31/2012

If you thought I received any Es today in Bellevue, you are wrong. But if you think I was using Global Tuners while two large openings were going on, you are right!

Large opening happened this morning around 7:30AM to KS. Other areas had SD, CO, OK. Only received one station because I had to leave. This was using the Ajax, Ontario remote node on Global Tuners.
0738: 95.5 UNID with Hurts So Good John Mellencamp, didn't ID
0741: 93.9 KZRD Dodge City, KS with ads for a church in Garden City and Little Caesar's Pizza. Distance is 1179 miles.

Later around 5:30-6:30PM another large opening happened to MS, LA and GA. 10 confirmed logs, and 1 tentative. Received these on the FM DX Montreal node.

At least two hours from North Dakota to Nashville this morning. A few outliers somewhere in Mexico (neither one matched anything I could find online) and in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
 
I wasn't at home last night, but managed to get a few stations on the car radio and my MP3 player. Not an ideal setup but I still managed to get

It never occurred to me to listen for E Skip on Global Tuners. Interesting.

Montreal to New Orleans is getting close to the limit of a single hop. Nice catches.

There was a time early this morning when looking at the DX Sherlock map that it seemed like ripe conditions for getting some E Skip here in Tampa from the northeast because of the positioning of the Es clouds with MUF at and above the upper end of the FM band but I couldn't hear a thing.

May have also been WSLU 89.5 Canton, NY via tropo unless it sounded more like an ES signal does where the signal fluctuates. They are 40kw at about 100mi from Montreal.
 
Went to a GT node in Ridgecrest, CA [Mohave Desert] and had a BLAST logging stations! Many logs from TX and Northern Mexico. Lasted between 10:30 and 2PM. [3.5 hours!] All logs are Pacific Time.

Found out the 92.9 [KROM] is NOT KROM, it is Estereo Romance XHER Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, CHI. And the 104.1 was XHCDH "La Sabrosita".

Wow, being between Ajax and Montreal, don't I wish I was able to play around on the dial today! 'vitesse', a new member here, runs the Montreal DX node (actually located in St. Jean-sur-Richelieu). He was lamenting to me that his big FM boom is down and he's only using a small exterior loop. He'll be stoked (or disappointed he missed out!) about your catches, crainbo. Good job going after those nodes, someone was on the ball today today!

I know vitesse [Luc] very well. I have gotten on a few other openings when the old tower was up, like the 6/17/10 opening to KS.

I completely overlook the Global Tuner nodes, but I know they're there. Perhaps I can start mobile DX'ing off of these and make that an off-season activity. If it's as good as my home set-up, and performs like my set-up would, who says I physically have to be in Montreal, Ajax or wherever to log these stations?
 
Had a monster opening today on the FM DX Montreal GT node. Went from NC to SC, down to FL, then W to AR/MO/MS/AL etc. A DXer in ON had 430 mile NYC skip up to WCBS 101.1! All times are Eastern. 22 logs.
