In Memphis yesterday! The audio problems persist, however I enjoyed how they weaved in and out of the satt. network with news, traffic etc. If they ever solve the satt. dish problem, it won't be half bad. Also saw the small lawn signs marketing the station. I've done that myself, and enjoyed someone else using the cheap tactic.

Back down on Friday for a Grizzlie game, so I'll listen again

Those little yard signs cost our station $500.00 in fines a few months ago. I would suggest staying away from that type of marketing in Memphis. :cool:

No. It's not illegal.

Yard signs are permitted, with size restrictions, on private property with the consent of the owner.

Signs, though ARE NOT permitted on any public property, including, but not limited to sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs, utility poles, stop signs, railway signs, right-of-ways, medians, etc. And, fines are set per sign, so those yard-like signs could get expensive if not done properly.

Yard signs are even permitted in Germantown. 1st Amendment issues would make cities cautious about this.

They are called Bootleg signs...because they are! The idea is to put them out on Friday afternoon and pick them up Monday morning at the latest. If you do that you will not be fined. That type of marketing works very well, you just have to follow the rules.<P ID="signature">______________

Here in Jackson, MS, those little yard signs started popping up around town and all they said was "Jack" but no mention as to what "Jack" meant. If you had never heard of Jack FM you would have been scratching your head.

That also covers roller banner. We got fined for leaving it up after a rather large event in a public place. So the FM 100 banner on Poplar in front of Houston’s and the Power 99 one on Poplar and Highland might want to watch out. They are both on Utility poles. There is a special officer whose job is to find these and fine us.

Makes one wonder if he/she collects enough in fines to pay the salary<P ID="signature">______________
