They are playing a huge selection of varied artists and songs that were not on the radio in ages. They are a bit like XM's Lucy, with new music thrown in. Now if they would add some Metal and Hard Rock they would be awesome. The music mix is good and getting better, have to admit, its better than what was on the dial a few hours ago. I just hope the Couzin Ed rumors are false, we don't need this fool on the airwaves ever again, or other pompous, vulgar, sex minded jocks. I think we will also be hearing tunes from Iggy, Pistols, Damned, Sisters of Mercy and Lords of the New Church.

That would be nice, but I doubt it.

YES! 104.5 - BACK ON MY PRESETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Altho', from the website, it seems they are going more after "Skin Radio" then YSP, XPN or MMR (soliciting for local bands and DJ's on the website - if I hear a poetry break, I'll laugh).

I just hope the others, like WHAT and WCHE, don't get scared off by this. I enjoy both!!!

YSP has remained a preset due to lack of other stations. It is a dusty preset, having not been touched in awhile. I just replaced it with 104.5. Let's give it a try and see what happens.

P.S. - Scissors, why the hostility toward Couzin ed?

WCHE plays music that is a little more obscure than what they are playing now. If 104.5 goes that way, then WCHE might have to back up and punt.

BTW Rockin Rob, welcome to the-dixon message board! Saw you registered the other day.

Captain, thanks for the welcome. Glad to be part of the madness.

Yes, WCHE does mix it up, especially tuning in Sundays to hear a block of Blues (including SRV's awesome version of "Little Wing"). I doubt 104.5 will go too obscure. Yeah, it will probably be the Over-researched 300 song library everyone's fearing. That will keep CHE as "the alternative to the alternative".

Right now, 104.5 spinning Bob Marley's "Buffalo Soldier" - a "Rock of the 80's Weekend" staple, harkening back to my DRE days.

..and yeah, while this might be good enough to bump another station off of my presets, I'm going to be remaining a hardcore Y-Rock listener for the moment. No one else is playing the perfect mix of new, old, and obscure to match my musical tastes.

What 104.5 is doing right now is not that different from WMMR. Each time I turn it on they're playing the RHCP - Snow (Hey Oh) song, or some other Y-100 track from back in 1998. That's fine -- Y-100 was a great station back in 1998-- but play some new stuff. Mix it up a little bit.

Last I checked, "Snow" is their current song, and clearly not from '98.

104.5 - I Like It

I'm the last person who should be giving there opinion about a rock station, but for the 1 hour I listened online last night and I have to say I liked it, tho I agree it's kind of weird to hear a female voice saying Radio 104.5 and how the hell is 12:13AM close to the top of the hour before I heard them saying "WUBA Philadelphia Now Broadcasting in HD Digital".

What I meant to say is that RHCP is the only new track they're spinning -- everything else is at least a few years old. I wasn't as clear as I wanted to be there.

I listened on the way to work this morning and I heard Snow! I did hear the new single from Lincoln Park on the way home. I like having a choice, but Radio 104.5 is a newborn, and will need some time to figure out their thing. If they last longer than some of the recent flips then I'll give them credit, for now I just want to give them a little time!
