I stopped at R & R's website to get a glance at the ratings and was greeted by this headline in the news section:

"Kid Curry upped to OM at Power 96/Miami; Tony the Tiger to share programming duties."

Sure, when you think of executives on the rise, you think of the Kid and Mr. Tiger.

"Tony the Tiger on Line 2."

And I thought the idiotic air names on Froggy were the depths of radio stupidity.

I always though the current rash of Kiss and CHR names were the worst (see, e.g., my post in re: Cheddar at 96.1 on this board a few months ago.) What's the deal with names of chesse, cartoon characters, etc.?

In the '80s, there was a PD in Rock Radio in Hartford, I think...and he went by the professional name Oedipus.

You should have seen how awkward that was introducing him at the R&R Convention that year.

I'm sure Mr. Tiger's ability to program a station is "Grrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeaaaaaattttttt!"<P ID="signature">______________
" You can sit HEAR in the waiting room, or wait here in the sitting room." Great quote from Firesign Theater</P>

From what Im aware of, Mr Kid was under speculation of payola. He quit, and now is hired back as OM.

So they take an awful programmer and keep promoting him up the ranks....They must be taking some tips from Infinity Pittsburgh

Promote him up the ranks enough and he won't be able to do any damage by hands-on programming, right? And it's better for the people who hired him in the first place than admitting they made a mistake by doing so — that would really make them look bad!
