Goumba Johnny Leaving 'KTU

From the RAMP Newsletter of Wed. 12/15/10 (1st story): https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:Campa...93926501/rid:0f57db639a7b2765e40757b34793a07f

Hollywood Hamilton will continue solo for now in afternoons. PD Rob Miller says that "we respect his (Johnny's) decision to seek a new opportunity."

Notice posted on Facebook on Tue. 12/14/10: LEAVING WKTU AND THANK YOU
by Goumba Johnny on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:52am
IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE AFTER 15 YEARS I AM LEAVING WKTU. I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THE LISTENERS FOR THEIR TREMENDOUS LOVE AND LOYALTY. IT WAS A GREAT 15 YEARS WHERE I GOT TO WORK WITH A LOT OF REALLY GOOD PEOPLE AND MADE SOME GREAT FRIENDSHIPS THAT WILL LAST FOREVER. I AM VERY PROUD OF THE WORK I WAS ABLE TO DO, ON AND OFF AIR, IN THE NEW YORK COMMUNITY. I’D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE AT KTU FOR GIVING ME THAT OPPORTUNITY. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK ON THE AIR IN NEW YORK CITY VERY SOON, AS I AM EXPLORING ALL OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO ME RIGHT NOW. DETAILS TO FOLLOW. BUT MOST OF ALL, THANK YOU SO MUCH AND MERRY CHRISTMAS. LOVE, JOHNNY

I'm confused. Rob Miller makes it sound like Goumba's leaving on his own terms, but Goumba's own quote makes it sound like he got sacked. In any case, it'll be interesting to see where else he might end up. WPLJ? CBS-FM?

I foresee a juicy edition of "War Of The Roses" with John Hogan in the near future... :D

In all seriousness, though, I hope he lands on his feet. It should not have to be that once one has amassed a certain number of years of tenure, and hard work first and foremost, they're shown the door. It shouldn't be that way, but in radio, I guess that's the way it is.

I would love to see Hollywood Hamilton & Goumba Johnny get reunited on CBS-FM weeknights from 7pm-12am following Broadway Bill Lee like it used to be on KTU.

That's only if CBS FM has the timeslots open. Who knows what will happen starting January 2011

Johnny will be fine :)

I don't see him being out of a radio job that long. Someone will snap him up! He still has the comedy shows going so even though he may no longer be on 'KTU, he's still part of the NYC fabric :)
