Governor chastises Yorke for being on the roads

Was a great shot the gov took at Yorke and he's absolutely right. What made it even funnier is how Yorke
was having his own version of an epileptic seizure and swallowing his tongue as the gov was chuckling away.
I was like "yeah!!!" when the gov said that and he's right on. Was a good interview. Hope you enjoy it as much
as I and the gov did. I hope Dan is OK. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

i wish i coulda spoken to the gov. so basicall what our so called elected official is the people of the state they had no business being on the road to go to and from work (i guess forgot some people cant afford to stay home cause we have high taxes and bill to pay) .... cause its easy for him to say he cant run for office again and wasnt here to over see anything.... this just goes to show us how much this gov. really cares.... HE LEAVES THE STATE ON AUTO PILOT WHEN HES AWAY...... GOOD MOVE GOV.WAY TO BRING THAT APPROVAL RATING UP!
 
Yorke gets blasted for being on the roads, but what about the others wh passed exits and didn't get off them? Everyone wants to jump on radio personalities. Don't give the the "The City Streets where just as bad" excuse, if everyon got off the highways, and they were able to be cleared, people who had gotten off could have gotten back on, and the traffic problem would have started alievating itself. Instead, no one hesitated to stay that snow bank in front of the ramp stopped them. Lets blast the idiocy of the state of Rhode Island. Lets ask the citizen why they didn't heed he warnings and get off the highway. Why was everyone else out there? I exited the highway as soon as I saw how bad the roads where in RI, which meant taking the Henderson Bridge and Angell street into the city. There was no one on Angell, and the Henderson Bridge had been clear, damn near close to bare pavment. The blame game will continue on everyone, but the one group of people who are also to blame will never get it from those that matter, because the elected officials are worried about losing the voting public.

I had a fair amount of time to think about this. It seems like the blame is coming from those that need to be blamed. The ones that could have pushed through a small snow bank and gotten off the highway. You knew the roads could get bad, its common thought that the first big snow storm becomes the worst, because everyone forgot how to drive. Sit in your office, wait it out. You knew, even if you left before the snowstorm that the traffic would be bad.
 
I like all of you posters here. I want to say, I shouldn't have been on the Highway. My Sister shouldn't have been. When I realized it, it was toooo late. Unless one of the state people had X Ray Vision heat Vision like SUPER MAN, nothing could be done.Sure some of these state officals sound like idiots after the fact. But, they had no ability to change the fact of the storm hitting the way it did.
I think Depetro, Cianci and Yorke all sound like their loving keeping it going. Either that or those 3 aren't smart eough to figure it out.
 
Right you are alfieradioguy. Funny thing about Yorke, earlier in his show he accused the governor of male chauvinism is his dealings with the female lt gov. Didn't hear him say a word about that to the governor's face did you? Not sure why WPRO keeps trying to push this as some story that's on everyone's mind. Don't hear this talked about anywhere in my travels other than when I turn on the radio to WPRO. Has anyone reminded them this snowstorm and its' traffic mess was a 1/2 day long? They've spent more time torturing us with talk about it than anyone spent actually inconvenienced by the storm itself. ::)
Same obsessive media agenda ongoing in Connecticut and Massachusetts where they had the same snow related problems we did?
 
Radiohead...You must be travelling in a small circle as I have heard it each day since Thursday.

It is good to keep it going until it is rammed into the Governor's, Lt. Governor's, EMA Chief's, DOT Chief's, Mayor's (not just Cicilline; but Doyle, Lombardi, Napolitano, Avedisian as well) that what happened on Thursday cannot be allowed to happen again. I still see roads in Cranston, Warwick, Providence, North providence, Lincoln, etc that either still have slush/snow on them and/or have been allowed to have ice accumulate w/o any salt/sand being applied at night. There are streets where only 1 vehicle can pass at a time, look at the problems Prov FD, Warwick FD & Cranston FD have had responding to fires since Thursday because the roads aren't plowed wide enough. All I hear from the Gov is much like Kevin Bacon's character in Animal House "do not panic...all is well!"

Why did the State EMA chief leave the office and go home (admittedly saying he really wasn't paying attention to the storm) as divulged on Depetro's show this AM? I could go on for hours; but they wouldn't be talking about it if there weren't callers calling in about it....

I am sure you could. Bottom line is that WPRO has you in an uproar. They have decided to turn this into a Soap Opera and you are among it's biggest fans. You act like this is the first storm where the side streets have been a mess after it snowed. You people are allowing that traffic jam last week to make you nutso.
 
Skynet, you Radiohead and Runrigger are about the only ones actually discussing this as it pertains to radio. Everybody else needs to call the DOT or EMA and complain about it because all everybody else is doing is talking RI crap on a radio board. It's getting boring and repetitious because the conversations are getting away from radio.
 
i think we actually need more WPROs out there........ it would bother me in the least if this is all thay talk about for the next 6 months..... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IN THIS STATE...... the reason no action is ever takin on anything is cause people drop the subject to quick, they move on and forget....... if i were any of those hosts on pro i wouldnt drop it untill jobs were lost and serious changes were made.. if any of you are actually listining wpro ( i was off today and listened pritty much all day) THERE ALOT OF PISSED OFF PEOPLE OUT THERE! so im sure pro could care less about the 4-5 of the people here who could care less.... but im glad there pushin it the way they are...... at least someone out there gives a dam.... and again im speakin outta frustation as a tax payer... I WAS NEVER EVEN IN THAT MESS
 
THIS JUST IN-State EMA director canned. Do you think it has anything to do with the horrible and stupid interview he gave to John Depetro this morning!?!

Chalk one up for Citadel Broadcasting...where will the axe fall next? Power to the people (of Broadcasting, that is)
 
Oh Boy... what a mess. All caused by a traffic jam. Be glad that you people don't live in Los Angeles. You wouldn't be able to handle it. I've honestly never seen something so blown out of proportion in my entire life.

I'll end this now by agreeing to disagree with those who are in an uproar. In my opinion any talk of this on the air should have ended last Friday. But I'll admit to now being curious how long the local media will keep this story going for. It does make for good radio though. But realistically it was just a very bad traffic jam caused by to many cars driving at the same time. Nothing more and nothing less.
