GPB cuts

Georgia Public Broadcasting has done some "trimming" on the radio side. Gone are GM Bob Houghton and Program Manager Rob Maynard along with a couple of others. Houghton was a former GM at WGST and Maynard kept the Braves Radio Network together before bailing for GPB. Rob's a truly decent guy who deserves better.

They are cutting teachers and police officers now. This is to be expected.

Just a reminder...GPB Radio is not heard in Atlanta proper. Some of the suburbs do have coverage though via stations in Rome, Dahlonega, Carollton, and Columbus.

What about the guy, I can't remember his name, who came over from WPCH to do mornings. Is he still there or has he gotten the boot? I haven't listened to mornings in some time.

You have GPB confused with WABE-FM, which is owned and operated by the Atlanta Board of Education. Steve Goss is the fellow you're thinking of. He was "downsized" at PCH/Lite and signed on with ABE where he continues to hold down the fort in AM drive.

I don't know Rob Maynard but did know Bob Houghton from our days on the GAB board back in the 90s. I trust both are fortunate to land something soon.

Houghton was GM of all of GPB, not just radio. GPB radio and TV is a trainwreck that should be allowed to wither on the vine.

Houghton is a miserable sob! Back stabber to the hilt! Part of the Planet Radio fiasco with Nancy Zertek!
Couldn't happen to a better person!

Wasn't Tammy Lloyd also part of Uranus Radio?

I will say this--Planet Radio did get ratings (although less than they did before), unlike what WGST gets today.
