I heard a tribute to Joel on WEQX on Tuesday. The people he worked with throughout his life, he would have had some stories to tell. Joel was also on the team of Caffe Lena, as an broadcast/audio tech.

Did Joel ever work on over-the-air radio in the NYC market? I have a vague recollection of him (or someone using that name) being on a Long Island station in the 1960s, perhaps WGBB, or WLIR?
